KNIVES- What would you carry?

A fun (hopefully) thought-provoking thread-
Left in a survival situation of your choice- arctic, swamp, jungle, bush, mtns- and allowed two edged weapons- what would your personal choice be?
My own is rather simple- a Nepalese Khukri, 12", and a smaller blade like my Master Hunter or possibly my Kobun. Leaving behind all my bowies would be hard but I'd have to go with a khukri... actually I could do most everything with a khuk and have done so in the past, but a smaller knife is very useful as well.
What would you all choose? Not limited to what you have now necessarily- share your thoughts...☺️

My EK Commando Knife Co. Pre-1990 #5 Bowie. I bought it in the late 80s and I’ve used it in just about all the places you mentioned👍
Some type of “Battle Hawk” type hatchet. One with a long beard. They are extremely useful.
Lastly, I’d choose the Mountains🤠

An ax, belt ax or full and

Weapon use is way down the list of needs for blades. I can make a ton of weapons, camp, shelter, fire, make traps, and clean game. I can last a long time with these tools.

I have been carrying various models of these for many years... a combat folder and a fixed. I got hooked on CRKT 10 or 15 years ago, I was en route to a Mid East place from another Mid East place and because of stuff and things I did not have a knife. I went on base and their BX had tons of CRKTs, I bought the earlier model of this folder and have carried one ever since. They are true workhorse knives.

These three i made would alk work. The belt ax in here would be a good choice and so would either knife for my uses. It's hsndle is ovaled and long enough, holds a good edge and a good flat poll for pounding.

The traditional belt ax i prefer over Vietnam style fighting hawks/axes and traditional Hawks for 2 reasons, one is an easy fix. First is the handle on many of hawk styles have too rounded a handle allowing it to spin in the hand sometimes when heavy chopping. The reason for this is it makes for a smoother release for throwing. This can be filed more oval.

The second is the spike end, great for fighting and pu ching hokes in doors terrible as a belt ax for traditional pounding.

Tops Knives Ranger dagger & Benchmade auto folder.

In any survival situation, any environment, my choices - a long-handled axe (not hatchet), and a folding saw, if limited to two items.

Definity always a saw. You're less likely to be injured by a saw than if your edged weapon bounces off what you are trying to cut/chop and splits your ankle open. Just saying. Use the saw for firewood and building shelter.

I carried and still have a Randall model 14. Used it in Africa and the desert. Even used it once to help dig a deuce and half out of a muddy track in Africa. Sharpened right back up when finished! Even used it to chop down 4 to 5 inch trees once. Skinned deer with it also. Great knife but on the too large side for some folks.

A bad ass blade, no doubt. Worthy of work in Afrika!

My choice? The back yard at the Goat Ranch.

Allowed two edged weapons- what would your personal choice be?

Probably some combination of the above. The same Multitool I carried in the Army and one of those knives. I carried the 110 in the Army too.

In all seriousness. my criteria have always been "If I was somehow miraculously recalled to active duty what knife would I carry".

I'd have to pick 3 because I'm not leaving my multitool behind. I used that more than any other knife I carried in the Military.

These knives stay in my Get Home Bag. The truth is I don't leave home without the Multitool and one of the knives in the second Picture. So I'd have that for sure. Then assuming I had time to grab the GHB I'd have the Strongarm and the Victorinox Trekker.

This is the review that sold me on the Strongarm

So, recalled to active duty

Gerber Strongarm
Victorinox Trekker
Gerber Multitool.

I would take a 18" Gerber Machete and a Buck folder, I think. Have so many good folders but am partial to one. Have cleaned and butchered many, many deer with it. I wish i could remember the #.
At one time I was a big fan of Gerber but after a big go round on a new multi tool that came apart one week after it arrived. I filled all the paperwork and waited for response, one month went by nothing. I called and the back and forth went on for months even after sending copies of all paperwork. It never got resolved so I switched to OKC and have outstanding equipment and service. I bought a Kukery which has been excellent from clearing brush, trimming poles. I had a great scaberd .

My go-to Gerber is 30 years old…it’s the old-school “switch-pliers” style, not a fold-out.

Love it.

Right before I retired I snapped a blade off my Multiplier. It was 100% my misuse of the tool, they replaced it.

The replacement fell apart right out of the box.

They replaced it and told me to keep the one that fell apart.

It happened again, twice more. Both times they told me to keep the defective tool.

After they sent me one that didn't fall apart. I got to fiddling with the defective tools. I found one lock washer on each tool that hadn't been properly installed.

I put the three back together and properly installed the lock washer. They worked fine.

I gave one to my wife for her GHB. I gave one to my favorite grandchild. I put one in my GHB and I carry my original on my belt.

This is one of the replacements. It has an M16 sight adjustment tool
