Monarch ammo from Academy

I avoid all steel case stuff. It but nature of the harder, less elastic nature of steel has to be harder on a firearm than brass cased. Plus the stuff I’ve seen friends use has been a tad sketchy performance wise. I usually buy new mfg. brass ammo then reload my own.

I only buy the brass Monarch stuff. Anything steel case is a pass, ESPECIALLY if it's that lacquer coat ****

Follow up:
I’ve shot a good bit of the 9mm and .45 that I recently bought from academy , which initiated my OP question…
Conclusion: there were no malfunctions. Brass seemed fine (I do not buy steel). Accuracy was good (hard for me to gauge, since my shooting doesn’t include very good target stands, I don’t have a rest, and I’m in early stages of arthritis, etc). But…

It is FILTHY. I do not recommend for high end or tight-fitting guns, or for competition.
Be prepared to clean afterwards.

this one article mentions the dirtiness of the ammo.

for me, even though i clean and lube after every range visit, i'd rather shoot Magtech....

not only that, but in the picture in this article, the brass to me, looks substandard.

At the manufacturing level, monarch is just rebranded magtech. I’ve never had it overly dirty, I have felt it’s cleaner than Federal Champion (which I shot for over a year exclusively). But everyone has their own experiences.

They switch manufacturers somewhat often. I've seen their ammo rebranded from PPU, BPS, and Magtech to name a few. Their Steel AK stuff was Barnaul mostly.

I've never had an issue with any of the 9mm, .45ACP, or .223/5.56 so far and i've got 10's of thousands of rounds between those calibers across a bunch of platforms. Dirty, sure. But most cheap range ammo is, regardless of manufacturer.

Would not put that junk through any of my guns. My shooting buddy runs Monarch 124 Nato and his guns look like they spent the afternoon at the strip club (brass glitter) , granted, he shoots 3 Caniks. Greasy, glittery mess if you ask me.
