My .308 Saint Victor V1, firing pin issues?

I actually bought the gauges because i feel like i’m having accuracy issues as well. So I maybe buying a new barrel for it as well. I was running a cheaper end LPVO I upgraded that and was going to the range to test it. Until i seen that firing pin.
keep in mind not all ammo even match ammo will like that particular barrel. try different brands and bullet weights

Thanks, that’s exactly what i’m doing right now. I’m not buying anything until i know for 100% fact that the rifle os innacurate.

Like i said i’m a newby when it comes to shooting precision. I do want to shoot it to get great groups at 100 yards.

The reason for that is that my range won’t allow you to move on until you hit 5 shots from 100 yards within a 3 inch circle.

if you load 1 round and fire does the bolt hold open after last round is fired.......................if not there's not enough gas to cycle it reliably. get a bolt and pin for replacement

as far as the barrel change you posted about.........are you changing the barrel yourself or taking it somewhere to have it done? you can check headspace while the barrel is out as that saves time on r/i

make sure it's the standard pin (large pin size) and not the hp pin (smaller pin). you don't want the gat between the pin and bolt orifice to be a problem
gat…..gat…..

It’s firing fine it has a gas block adjustment so that’s working great actually.

I will be doing the barrel change myself if it comes to that. Sounds good on check headspace while barrel is out. Thanks.

do you have any brands you're looking at for possible replacement.............i've built a lot of ar's with some custom barrels and some off the shelf buys. i test with m80 ammo mainly and aero precision & criterion have been the 2 most accurate off the shelf builds. not so much luck with faxon and proof research in 308

I was looking a Ballistic Advantage because of the price. I have no clue on barrels. But I’m reading up on it. So Aero and Criterion, i’ll put that it in my notes.

Also, here’s a question for you since you have builds under your belt. If the upper receiver is loose with a barrel fit, what can be done about that? I was watching a video of somebody on youtube doing a barrel change and his barrel was very loose.

So he used green loctite and said he never had issues with that. Seems a bit odd to me, but i don’t know.

Also, if i continue to have accuracy issues i’ve read to check totque on the barrel nut? Is that right? I have tools coming to do these things and just incase i want to change out that barrel

Because like i said. This thing needs to be accurate so i can stretch my legs out to 200 then 300 and so on.

But then again, it’s so expensive, the match ammo. Who knows if i can even keep up with those prices for match .308

*Edit* Also should i just go ahead and buy a matching bolt so there isn’t any headspacing issues if i do change it out?

aero, ballistic and stag are a joined company, but due to what's going on with aero's site i wouldn't buy off of it as many stated shipping issues and funds not being refunded. i have no idea what that means for the other 2 brands?

not exactly sure what you mean by "receiver is loose with a barrel fit", but what i think you're talking about is the fitment of the barrel extension with the upper receiver? i've had some fit tight enough that it required a mallet to drive it in, but the rest have been snug. if there's wobble/play, it depends on how much. there are vids on how to cure that issue (use at your own risk) as i've never tried any of that. if you install the barrel and torque it and there's still play it could be either the receiver (most likely the issue) or the extension. i've only bought 6061 aluminum so unfamiliar with the 7075. if the play is horizontal (barrel moves forward and backwards) you'll need shims between the barrel nut and extension and may need it to time the nut depending on how the handguard is mounted. get some anti-seize for the threads AND use gloves...........you don't want too find out why later! torque is usually between 50-75ftlbs. i usually do no more than 60 if it need to be timed for the gas tube. you could get a matching bolt to barrel as i've had 2-3 times where the bolt was out of headspace with that/those barrels, but were able to use them with others. if using loc-tite on the extension to make up for space, i have no clue it that works.

This is great info Mr Texas. I truly appreciate everything you explained. You pretty much answered everything I asked. Well done sir.

I ordered my firing pin and when it gets here I will take it out and fire it, to see how accurate I am at that point.

If i need to continue on the journey of changing the barrel. I will just have this page saved and read your info. Again, thank you.

Much appreciated and have a good evening, Texas.

Greetings from FL
