My early morning visitors

Now that it has been cleared by local police I can say what happened. This morning at about 530am my cameras started going off in my front yard, then my doorbell started ringing. A girl was ringing the doorbell screaming and the male was off to the side trying to hide. I got my gun and my nightstick and opened the door. The girl tried to open the locked storm door screaming that someone was trying to rape her. I told her to move away from the door and i would open it. I opened the door and the first thing I did was swing with my nightstick and hit the male in the face he went down and I pulled the gun and pointed it at the girl. My wife was in the house freaking out calling the police. She did tell them that I was armed. When 3 police cruisers showed up I yelled at them that I was the homeowner and had one person at gunpoint. I didn't want to get shot! I hit the male so hard that he got knocked out and was on the ground bleeding. Apparently I broke his nose and knocked out a tooth. Found out these were high school kids! They have been all over town breaking into cars and houses stealing stuff. Police said I was lucky they didn't have a firearm. Asked if I wanted to press charges and I said yes. I also said charge the parents also. They also were surprised I had a nightstick. Since I used it they took it as evidence for the time being. They have both been detained. Probably will be going to juvenile detention. How's that for an eyeopener! Really got my blood going.

I was looking at baseball bats when I was in the sporting goods store the other day. I should've picked up one. I'm glad you were prepared and handled the situation appropriately. I'm happy you and the missus are OK. I also hope the partents are held responsible as well.

Nice work! Im not sure I would have chosen the baton; but Im glad it worked for you. Around here if you can use a baton you can use a gun; but at least you got a WACK in because Im betting the court wont do much if they are charged as juveniles. Im also kinda surprised the girl stuck around.

For what its work Im a fan of TASERs for less than lethal; but then I never felt the ASP had enough "kick"

There used to be a company that made a trip wire activated pepper spray that would dump the whole can when activated. Im hoping by now that someone makes a remote operated version. Id like to install something on my screened in front porch for persistent solicitors and late night visitors. Maybe thats a Ring Doorbell upgrade???

Or maybe a sentry gun with pepperballs
 
I hate to say it or bring it up, but you might want to hold up on taking your dog for walks for the time being. I know you are armed and capable of defending yourself while on these walks, but what about your wife at home while you and Maggie are out? Those punk kids will probably be released soon, and I wouldn't be surprised if they and a couple of their friends tried to get some payback. And no telling what the deadbeat parents might say or do. It might be a good time to lay low for a little while. And watch your six.
 
They just got finished with spring break and police said it was a rough week. All night long they have been getting calls for gangs of kids trying to break into cars all over town and yes a few firearms have been stolen. Damm parents don't know what their kids are up to or know where they are at in the middle of the night. Sooner or later someone is going to get killed. That is why I had to stop taking the 530 am walks with Maggie. It's just not safe in the dark here anymore. I now wait until sunrise. What is wrong with people!

Yep, I guess i'm stupid. I saw everything on camera before I attempted it. Wife is still pretty upset with me. Cop asked me if he should call before knocking on my door. I responded absolutely! My wife reminded me that i'm not young anymore and better start acting my age! I hate to say it but I will be 70 in a couple of months. I guess I should keep that in mind.

i will second, i would not have opened the door, if i saw it all on camera, you just never know.

keep your noggin on a swivel and i have a baseball bat, its a commemorative from my son when he conned many people to join the navy, they gave him a nice bat
i use it for just what you had happen,

You mean I might get more targets! I guess the Infantry trained me well! All kidding aside I understand what you are saying. Wife has a gun she could get to if need be. Maybe they learned a lesson--I hope.
