My Echelon Appreciation Thread..

I've had my fair share of Echelons ever since they came out a few years ago. I finally settled on my final version of the Echelon with my modified 4.0 FC frame, threaded barrel, Rook Precision single sided mag release, three dot Tritium night sights, Apex Tactical stainless steel guide rod and Osight "C" Green dot optic. It's really the best of the rest for me and one of my top edc's. I'm looking forward to what Springfield has planned next, hopefully they'll eventually offer the COG as a stand alone unit.
God knows I have enough spare parts to build another full Echelon..lol

Ya, loving mine to... I've been using my full-size Echelon for steel plate challenge competition since I bought it and first shot it, it actually replaced my Shadow 2 for that purpose.

Loved it so much bought the 4.0c comp to replace my Hellcat Pro, (which I also love) as my primary CCW.

Very happy with Springfield and the Echelon line.

Hi,

For some reason I’m not a big fan. I know it’s the XD replacement but I rather have the good old XDm’s.

My XDM Elite Precision is fun to shoot and has an excellent factory trigger for me. I like that trigger better than the 4.5F Comp. But both my Echelons are a great overall package. For consistency, maybe I should just replace all the triggers. Hmmm.

I’m going to be that guy. I know a lot of people like the Echelon and more power to them, but for me, in a sea of striker fired pistols the Echelon just doesn’t distinguish itself. Sure it’s got the COG and its optic mounting system, but when I shoot it next to a VP9 or PDP it just doesn’t have that something, something. I recently bought the Echelon Alpha and at least the reprofiled slide makes the Echelon look more serious. It pretty much shot on a par with the VP9 and PDP, but doesn’t have the heft/gravitas that those two have. It’s no secret I’m a big HK fan and for a striker gun straight out of the box I don’t think the VP9 can be beat. But that’s just one person’s observation and I will admit that I’ve been firing so many hammer fired guns for the last little while that strikers just aren’t getting it done for me. Maybe I waited too long to try the Echelon. Gotta go, my .45 USP Expert says the 2011s are bugging it.

I can';t shoot mine without gloves, trigger pinches my finger

I have a fix for that. The issue is that the trigger is so long that it creates a pinch point between the end of the trigger and the trigger guard at full pull. All you need to do is pull the COG, take a sanding stick and file off a few millimeters (1/8") off the tip of the trigger, then I also take a sanding stick to the arch inside the guard and flatten it out some. That will open the gap between the trigger and the guard and eliminate the pinch point and Viola!! No more blisters..
