My latest .22lr

Hellcat
I wanted to build a budget range rifle fashioned after a steel challenge rifle. I had a stock laying around from an MLR22 which got the ball rolling. I picked up parts over time when it went on sale. I scored a Ruger threaded carbon fiber barrel. Then a BX trigger and stock Ruger bolt/charging handle combo. I got a Ruger 10/22 receiver on sale from Volquartsen. I slapped it all together and topped it off with a Bushnell TRS25 red dot sight i already had in my collection of “stuff”.
I will see how it shoots this weekend. It is ridiculously light, maybe 4-4.5 lbs. i may put a compensator on it. Why? Why not? 😂

Nice little build. DiP makes a nice comp that would look great on it if the diameters happen to coincide.

A good looking rifle you've built! One that you could also shoot silhouette with! That game is the other steel challenge, out to 100 yards!

Good luck whatever you shoot, but take a kid with you, and show them how much fun you can have!
@Retired Bum We don’t have any kids of our own and our friend’s kids are all grown. However, this will be a learning rifle for those that want try their hand at some shooting.
There is an outside chance that i might get my wife out. If i do then this will be her rifle.
I joined a private gun club that is quieter and less crowded than the public range i used to go to. She said she’d like to see it. So there’s a possibility i may get her out on the range. She didn’t dismiss it out of hand like normal. I think she’d love it and am sure she’d be real good at it too. Fingers crossed.

Very nice looking 22 Mike. looks to have a threaded barrel. can ya'll own suppressors there?
@Belt Fed unfortunately, we cannot have suppressors. When i can escape this state i will put a can on it. Within 5-7 years i’ll be able to move out of NJ, most likely heading to PA. In the meantime i’m thinking of putting a comp on it. It looks “scarier” that way. 😁

Nice rifle.👍
.22s are fun to shoot and best part, economical.

Nice! I’ve got a Volquartsen 10/22 from mid 90’s with the tensioned carbon fiber barrel. Off bags with decent ammo it’ll literally shot into one hole. Darn accurate rifle!
@Shibadog i have a tensioned barrel on the MLR22 and it too is super accurate. It is aluminum wrapped not carbon but will shoot <0.5” groups at 40yds all day long off a bag. I have it sitting in an archangel stock.
