nationwide insurance hires a bunch called chrp

Got a email from CHRP that they want to do a inhouse inspection of my house for nationwide insurance. My agent said it was legit. I can do it myself, taking pics of what they want to see ,inside and outside, or they can send a chrp agent to do it for me. I have never had an insurance company want to see the inside of my house. when you go to web site this lil window pops up an says "hello human". This new AI bull chit is getting out of hand big time. Has this inspection stuff happened to any of ya'll?

has not happened to me....yet.

they do however, from time to time, send someone over to view the outside, take pics if they see something that needs attention.

THAT has happened to me ONCE, as i got a letter to get something fixed.

seems to me, that insurance company is or someone else has, already started a precedent.

Hopefully you don't live in an area where it is difficult to get a reasonably priced policy elsewhere. If other insurers are available, I'd tell them to kick rocks. I'm truthfully shocked to even hear that insurers are making such a request. What could possibly be any sort of justification?

Yea, I wouldn’t do it, but that’s me, no insurance needs to see inside your house really….. I would be very skeptical myself

We dealt with this a year or so ago. State farm snuck out to our house , took pictures of the house and roof. Sent a letter to us saying our roof needs replaced. It's just 10 yrs old. So we called another company got insured for less and roof is fine!
Just new BS they are trying to pull on people

as you actually said yourself....Hopefully you don't live in an area where it is difficult to get a reasonably priced policy

some insurance companies do not want to write policies in certain cities anymore....or certain states anymore as well, as maybe perhaps there is no profits in it for them. .

the chances of violent crimes, arson, rioting, etc, etc, costs the insurance companies Billions of dollars, each year, and each event.

one could live (say) just outside the radius of a crime/disaster prone area, and not get insurance anymore, if only living "close to" that area, but not in it.

a buddy of mine in PA, just went thru that...his insurance said "fix your garage roof, OR ELSE"......

he had a metal roof........they did not want him to seal it and paint it......

a bunch of BS

Yep. 100% accurate. My uncle is retired. He owns his home outright. He lives in <cough, cough> Commiefornia. He had trouble even finding a carrier that would write a policy. The policy he has is outrageously priced. He told me when his policy was about to expire that he was just going to do without. I pointed out to him that he simply couldn't afford to rebuild and replace even the bare minimums and that he's pretty much stuck having to insure his property. He begrudgingly writes that check every 4 months......

well for me and the wife, we are "stuck" with our current company as well

reason being, too many demands of other insurance companies like, NO asbestos, ALL NEW WIRING, ALL NEW plumbing, and fun fact...a fire truck MUST be able to get around all 4 sides of the house..

LIKE WTF, all 4 sides..?? we live in the freaking city, NO WAY possible a fire truck can get all 4 sides..that's what ladders and tower trucks are for........

try and live in "some cities" where the houses are densely packed, and get a fire truck to all 4 sides..!!!!!!!!

so as a result we too are "squeezed" each year at renewal time with the company we have.

the REAL issue is....the more insurance companies have to pay claims, the LESS bonuses the alphabet soup board members get, which means no new jets every year, or stock options, or cash bonuses, or another new home on a tropical island.

we are cutting into thier wallets, and it's killing them.

We have not experienced this with USAA but it may be a trend that all insurance will embrace. It's an intrusion of privacy, the remedy is to find another carrier. The Insurance company and an HOA will push until the home owner tells them to pound sand.
And our profit sharing rebate comes in December!! As much as I have griped about USAA, I somehow always end back up with them.

I had USAA for years then they started raising rates--never had a claim. When I called I asked why the rate hike and they could not tell me why. Finally after a few years got fed up and went someplace else.
I've left and gone back to USAA at least a dozen times. The real impact to the rates and rebates came after they allowed the enlisted to join. My primary complaint has been they nickel and dime you to death every time you open your bill. Customer service is also nowhere near what it used to be. I remember when they'd answer my telephone calls with "Thank you for being a member for 39 years Mr. So&So. How may I be of service today?" Now you're lucky to have them appropriately address you.

The last time I called they said current new military members are causing a lot of issues. One of the issues is they don't like to pay on time and they put in a lot of claims for silly stuff.

I have no problems with them checking the outside, ive had it done before. House and land was paid off long time ago and there aint no HOA in this neck of the woods. Had new roof put on about 11 months ago. no bad trees or limbs close to house. I'm going to check with AARP about hartford insurance. Only claim ive ever had was about 35 years ago roof got messed up in a ice storm, no power for 7 days, they paid to fix roof, they bought me a new fridge & freezer combo and even got money for food that spoiled, $2200 dollars if i remember right. I live in the first n worst state.
