Never buy, always sell?

After living the mantra of "never sell, always buy," I'm finding that a few things I bought for one purpose have turned out to not get used. Instead of them sitting in the safe, they're headed to auction with Locust Fork on Gunbroker. I did quite a bit of research and they came highly rated - after running a small test sale with them I'm pleased with the service and the outcome, so I've just finished packing up six different guns and mags to head their way and make room and funds for two purchases I expect to make before the end of the year: a S&W 617 for use when Steel Challenge adds Rimfire Revolver as an irons / optics division next year, and a SIG P226 Legion of some sort (not sure which one yet), something I've always wanted.

For the record, NONE of my guns are at Locust Fork or up for sale yet - this isn't a sales post - and I won't identify which ones are mine when they do post. I find myself impressed by what they bring in, though, and they're great to work with. https://www.gunbroker.com/s/seller/Locust-Fork/

I'm looking forward to seeing them go live, then tracking them to see how they do (on Gunbroker, nothing really happens before the last 30 minutes anyway).

These things have all been up on my local for-sale site for a while and haven't sold (though I've received all the stupid offers and lots of people who want to send me a check then give their "agent" some of the cash back, but electronically of course), so off to Locust Fork they go.

I’m kinda at that point too. I’m only keeping what I will use. All of my handguns now have mounts for optics and lights, 1911/2011 included as I age and eyesight dwindles. The one or two things I need to add are a .22 pistol and rifle then associated suppressor. Then continue to
add ammo and mags. Not sure if I’ll add a pistol carbine like the Kuna to the stable or build out an AR pistol as I currently don’t have a valid need or use for them. I have a spare stripped lower I purchased as other so I can go either way with it.

I have a decent collection of S&W third-gen semi autos and a group of M&P variants. Two away from a "family complete" collection of 1 from each model/frame size in 1st-3rd gen, and several rarer PC pistols.

Uh, like guns much? That’s more gunz that I hv bot n sold in 74 yrs! No wonder you can afford to let go of a few lol. Respect.

I do like the 1-3rd gen semi auto line from S&W, yes. Now I'm slowly working through and "upgrading" to guns in better condition, with the older ones going to auction to offset the cost.

I've got a couple that are like baseball cards - "misprints" - where it says it's one thing but is an undocumented transitional model. etc. A couple of mine are in the S&W Standard Catalog, 5th edition, and when I get time I'll take better pictures of the others to send them for the 6th edition. :)

i had amassed quite a few various makes and calibers of handguns myself, not as many as you however..

i got rid of many of them, too many to keep track of, when they went to the range, cleanings and lubrication's.

less has been more for me.

i vividly recall what an RSO said to me one time, and it sunk in that day, when he said...

"i'd rather have maybe 2 to 5 guns that i very shoot well, over a bunch of guns i shoot just ok".

The guns I shoot regularly are definitely cared for differently than these I don't shoot as often. Between GSSF, USPSA and Steel Challenge, quite a few get worked through, but the Staccato P and the Echelon are the two most used.
