Hello from MN,

I have been looking in here for a while and finally got registered the other day so thought I should say ‘hello’.
There’s so much interesting information here. Pretty much every aspect of shooting is covered.

I’m a retired dairy farmer from central MN. Sold the cows seven years ago after 40+ years of 24/7/365 dedication to them. Been interested in guns and all types of shooting for as long as I can remember. I’ve built several flintlock rifles during the long MN winters. I’ve taken many deer here with my flintlocks

Single shot rifles, lever action rifles, and single action revolvers, all of 1870’s style are a big part of my shooting activities. Casting bullets and reloading ammo for them is an enjoyable pastime and necessary for my Sharps rifle chambered in the obsolete .40-70 SS cartridge.

Three years ago I acquired a nice Springfield 1911 45ACP. I can’t claim to be a good pistol shooter but I’m slowly improving. Reloading for the 45ACP has been fun and rewarding.

So, I’m glad to be here even though I might not post a lot. I’ll for sure be visiting often to see what’s new.

Was stationed in Duluth for a few years 15 yrs ago, and had my first 6.5 CM built by Little Crow Gunworks in Spicer.

Grew up raising beef cattle & felt sorry about the Dairy folks since they were tied to the barn all the time.

Interesting state, MN.

Welcome to the forum from the Wild Wild Upper Midwest. It's good to have someone of your caliber join us. I have a cap-n-ball pistol and one lever rifle but shoot mostly newer designs. I've thought about a muzzle loading rifle, one of these days. Casting your own bullets is hard core. Good for you. I hope you are enjoying your retirement. I enjoy mine. ;)

glad we only had 3 milking cows and did that once a day as a kid. we made our own butter, cream and milk. being the youngest i only had to milk for 3 years before we sold them. my brother being 3 years older had 6 years worth of milking them. my sister being 5 years older than never had too do :poop: ! for milk production, ya 3 times a day regardless on hand or machine milking gets old in a hurry! welcome from the Texas Panhandle area and sometimes known as West Texas! i've been the mn 1 time for horse racing back in '86 or '87 to shakopee for about 2 months (may to july). some small restaurant sold fresh baked bread every day and it was SOOOOOOO good! it was either a 7-grain or 9-grain bread (the 1 w/o rye). not sure if it were in that town or in a near by town was a Greek restaurant? it was the only place to eat that late of the day my father and i arrived. the iced tea looked like coffee as it was so dark, but didn't need any more sugar than the tea i was used too drinking. 1 thing i did learn while eating there was pace yourself...................eat to fast and they shove another dish in front of you to eat. i was so stuffed i couldn't eat the main course.

Welcome aboard. Yes I can be the crazy one but what do you expect from north central Illinois where freedom is talked about but the state tries to limit us.
