NEW Member with questions.

Good morning to all. I recently acquired 2 45 pistols. 1 is a new old stock Springfield 1911 Stainless. The other is a used Kimber Pro CDP II Stainless that arrived with 1 of the stocks split in half, so suggestions for replacement. Quality but not Guchi. I am kinda new to the 1911. I qualified with the 45 in the service but didn't carry or even shoot one much. I have a Colt series 70 38 Super and LW 9 and a Colt Double Eagle 40. I haven't shot the 40 for 20 years. I do have a Sig 45 that is a joy to shoot and got Mr interested in the 45's. I have not shot either one due to a 4 year fight with that pesky cancer bug. Do you recommend cycling the slide on these to lighten them up? I have Snapchat on order for dry firing. Thank you for any suggestions.

I am partial to Hogue G10 grips. I have put them on all my semi auto pistols and several of my SIGs and my Springfield TRP came with them. You can get some of them from Amazon orcdirectvfrom Hogue. You might also want ot get some new grip screws when ordering grips. I prefer an aggressive texture but some like a less aggressive surface, your choice. Good luck on your project.

Thank you. I never think of Amazon first. Shows my age.

I really like the first and last ones. The broken grip didn't upset me too much, I would have replaced those smooth black ones anyway.

i like smooth to semi-rough grips on my 1911's..

many times i get nice ones at Amazon, sometimes Etsy....i pre-buy Chaliss screws, bushings, and the tiny "O" rings from either Brownell's or Thunder Mountain, and i must have like 10 tiny plastic bags of each type of screw, and bushings in my storage box..........even at least 1 set of new grips.

don't let this pic fool you, it is full up now, this is an old pic.....in fact, you can see the "O" rings packs in the right middle box
