No one needs another review of the Sig 365 X Macro but here's mine anyway.

As I pointed out in another post, it's been a good long time since I've purchased a new gun. There are a bunch of reasons but a while back I figured the time was right to pick myself out a new 9mm. I have enjoyed shooting my brother's Beretta 92 but was not crazy about the grip width or its overall size. A buddy of mine has a Glock 43X and as soon as I gripped it I said, "Now, this is more like it."

Enter the 365 X Macro. For me, it's a Goldilock's 9mm. It's not too much or too little of anything size-wise or weight-wise. And, it's an excellent and very natural pointing pistol for me, which is big. So, in the end it was an easy decision to make.

The 365 X Macro comes in a typical plastic case and arrives with two magazines and a bunch of other stuff that's found with new guns these days. The case is fine, as far as it goes, and is well-suited to trips to the range. The magazines are Ok quality wise but the mag springs are unimaginably stiff when new. I don't get the point of this, but what can you do? Thank goodness for the Speed Beez Lever Loader. That little plastic device is the only reason I ever got more than 5 rounds into a magazine the first couple trips to the range. I'm really not sure about Sig's thinking on the issue. I have simply never encountered new mag springs that were so stiff.

The 365 X Macro is delightfully accurate and the trigger is excellent. Both the pistol's basic accuracy and the trigger's break are far superior to my ability to kill paper. It is remarkably easy for me to keep it on target from shot to shot. Over the first 100 rounds things just got better and better. Since then, I have fed the Sig 300+ rounds of 115G Fiocchi, MaxxTech 124G and Federal Black Pack 115G. Each has brand and bullet weight has run through the Sig smoothly and without drama. Most of my shooting has been at 7 and 10 meters.

I like to run my semiautomatic pistols a while before an initial cleaning. It helps me to see where most of the residual powder ends up so today I gave the 365 X Macro its first thorough cleaning. Takedown is simple but everything was as stiff as you would expect from a new pistol. The barrel ends up pretty sooty which I attribute to the compensator and the fact that Sig puts a little grease on it at the factory. The whole deal reminded me I actually find cleaning guns rather peaceful and satisfying. It's been a while...

My local indoor range (I shoot outdoors whenever possible) has a weekly speed event at 7 meters I hope to enter this winter. I watched last week and it looked like good fun. We'll see. Accessory-wise, other than the Speed Beez I have purchased little except a OWB Bravo Concealment holster I use at the outdoor range. I do intend to add a little rough tape to the grip. Fancy mod, eh? On the other hand, the grip is pretty good just as it is. I know most shooters think of the 365 X Macro mostly as a pure concealment pistol. But, for me, it's a great all around pistol and I am enjoying the heck out of it. Thanks for reading.
