Officers Down in America

Absolutely dangerous, with emotions and violence already out of control before you get the call. As usual the shooter will turn out to be a lifelong waste of oxygen.
I put as much blame on the top brass who are willing to sacrifice an officer/deputy to keep their job. Not sure how many “gotcha” divisions LAPD has now, but they will put your life under a microscope to prove you were wrong and to increase their body count of good cops. With that thought in mind, how many EOW personnel hesitated just a little too long and paid the penalty for that delay?

Sad but true if you're worried about a lawsuit being fired and/or prosecuted. I was only in law enforcement 12 years several decades ago would not choose that career today.

I am more concerned with the state of training with respect to the approach to danger. So many of these officers are being shot on arrival. You know you are going to a gun domestic, why in hell would you drive up/walk up to the house without doing some recon? I wasn't there, and I know it seems harsh to second guess the officers who are victims, but if you don't cast a critical eye you are destined to make the same mistakes again.

Possibly in a hurry to handle the rest of the call load. No time to talk it over with other cops. Or, with so many older, experienced cops quitting or retiring, it in only 21-23 year old cops with 1-2 years behind the badge…

Damn savages don't always use a gun

They still have the Death Penalty in Louisiana, don't they ?

Same kinda thing happened around here awhile ago. A Motorcop on side of road at an auto accident was targeted by a whacko, who laughed during her booking.

Those special people deserve a special place where they're going.
