Now, now…someone was responsible for producing said daughter, yes? And raising her right?
Again not me.
I've told this story before but my daughter walked a very crooked road.
Her first husband was a drug trafficker. We don't know all the details. But there's no possible way she didn't know what he was doing for a living. We suspect that the only reason that she wasn't arrested with him is because the authorities didn't want to deal with putting three kids in foster care.
He got arrested. Again I don't know all the details but his family told him to keep his mouth shut, take a plea bargain and go to prison and they would make sure that his wife and kids were taken care of.
Daughter had enough and left him. The only one of her children that wanted to maintain any kind of relationship with the father was her oldest son.
FWIW Father is doing life in Texas now.
I have no idea if this was true but the rumor I heard was the family decided that the oldest son needed to be with him and were in theory willing to kill her to get him.
She left the oldest son with us and vanished from the face of the Earth for 8 years.
I never asked, I don't know if she ever told my wife but to prevailing opinion is that she was living as an illegal alien in Mexico. She came back with a Mexican husband and four Mexican babies.
None of the kids that went with her and that she brought back spoke any English. It's still their second language. As far as her children and her are concerned the world is divided into two subdivisions, the family and everybody else.
She enrolled them in school in Colorado Springs and all of them had to go ESL. The school didn't have anybody to interpret for spanish-spaking parents so she started doing it. She became an advocate for the Spanish-speaking parents and the school created a position for her as an admin assistant. She Rose from the position of admin assistant to head admin assistant of the school.
A couple years after she started working for the school they got a new principal. I don't know how to explain it but she and the new principal became business partners.
He left his position at the school to become the CEO of a charter school that has campuses in I think four different states. He signed some kind of agreement that he would not hire her away from the school for a certain amount of time after he left it. Whatever the amount of time was the day it expired he offered her a position as the COO of the charter school. She's worked there for 12 years I have no idea what she makes but it's in the high six figures.
My point is that we did not turn her into that person. 8 years living under the radar wherever she was living turned her into that person.
