On The Road……..

So an update…..
So far no major issues whatsoever, the power flickered twice but is still on however I’m realistic knowing the worst;
“Severe Cold” is yet to come.
I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who posted with support and positive words you have no idea how much that settled me. I did take a walk around the RV yesterday morning and found a small evergreen leaning over the slide out and roof, my heart dropped.
I contacted my new boss who is still onsite also staying in a state provided RV
“Long story” and he came over immediately, cutting it down at that point wasn’t an option so we used ratchet straps attached to two other large more secure trees and was able pull the smaller tree up and away from the slide out and off the roof. It’s still (over) the RV but supported. I didn’t get any pictures but honestly it’s something I don’t want to be able to ever see again.
On the 28th of this month it will be 2 years since I started this journey and it’s been exciting, rewarding and sometimes stressful but I’m sitting here now and know that I made the right decision.
You only live once and I’m seriously living a great life.

Update again soon.

So……. I didn’t think I’d be posting again so soon after my last update about 15 minutes ago but things have become somewhat “interesting”…….
While I was typing my last update I was listening to sounds outside that I felt I needed to investigate, I wasn’t expecting to spend a lot of time outside but I got all dressed up and with my flashlight in hand went to the door……
Frozen shut…... I know I could have gotten out but didn’t want to cause any damage that would prevent me from closing and securing it. That would surely suck.
So here I sit. I have to say I’m surprisingly calm, honestly I kind of expected this.

I did see something that actually made me laugh; I actually laughed out loud and took a screenshot to share.
This is from my iPhones weather app showing the current weather conditions outside…. For the most part not really funny but what’s circled in red is…..
PRICELESS!!!!!

Right now I’m doing ok and I do have a heat gun to help me get out without causing damage if need be as well as melting anything so I can close and secure the door.
The blessing is my cat TIGGER and I are warm.

Ok update……
I’ve mentioned before that I did away with a lot of things when I went full time including some tools but right now I’m very happy with myself not doing away with my Wagner Heat Gun and since this gets hot enough to almost melt steel I used the low setting to put some heat on the door latch assembly and got it unfrozen.
Now to go outside after I put on sunscreen 😂😂😂

Hi @Keystone19250,

That sounds like quite an exciting chapter in your adventure. Sometimes the doors on my truck will be frozen shut. So far I haven't ripped any weather seals but I've heard of that happening. I think I can coat the seals with a silicone grease to lessen the chance of damage. Maybe I should look for a battery powered heat gun or hair dryer. Thanks for the idea. You take care of yourself and Tigger. Use SPF 30, at least. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

our door in the bus did that one year in the freak snow in SAN Antonio
gives you a start, then set up a heater and boom all good
stay warm up there
sunscreen is word of the day in bonham, those sneaky rays will get through :ROFLMAO:

Big time update……
Very glad and a blessing we didn’t lose power, had the Generator ready but dealing with keeping it full of gas would have been a pain in the A..

It’s cold but not brutally so and we have blue skies. Incredible. 😊

Finally got my iPhone outside for pictures.

So glad I had skirted the RV and had 2 electric heaters underneath to keep tanks and basement warm.
I had moved my truck to an open area away from trees to avoid any falling limbs, luckily nothing came down.
I have to say it’s beautiful but looking forward to it melting away.
I had put a tarp over the slide roof and it made a BIG DIFFERENCE in helping to keep out cold air.

great to her you survived bonham
the sun being out helps the mind, even though tonight is going to be horribly cold again
how did you attach the tarp to the camper? are those twist fittings? clever indeed
smart move i say
