Opinions on the Sig P320

I received the Sig P320 full size and a 320 Compact for my birthday. ( She does this kind of thing ever since we married) Now everyone and their Brother claims these guns fire by themselves. I've done some research and most of these "Accidental Discharges" appear to be operator error or a bad holster design for a striker fired pistol. I would welcome any comments. I like both guns but I don't carry them. IMG_1522 - Copy.JPG

She's trying to kill you off. 🤣

All joking aside, at this point, I don't know what to believe. There are a number of people in this forum that absolutely will not accept the possibility that a problem may exist. I have carried a S&W Model 457 as my EDC for at least 30 years. When I bought it, I was in my closet with the safe door open. I loaded up the magazine and racked it. BLAM right into the safe! S&W repaired it and very surprisingly admitted to me that there was in fact a flaw. Having had that happen with a S&W product, I tend to believe an issue exists with the SIG as brand name does not insure flawless products. Times are very different from decades ago when I had the issue with my 457 and I tend to believe SIG won't admit to having a problem under any circumstances.

My uncle is a gunsmith. He was in business for 40+ years as a professional gunsmith. It wasn't his hobby; it was his exclusive means of income. A while back I asked his opinion on the matter and he said he has no doubt whatsoever that SIG has a big problem on their hands with the P320.

I would use it at the range but I sure as hell wouldn't appendix carry it as my edc.

Be safe, friend.

Well there is a LOT of contraversay and some 320’s going off in holsters with the cop not having any hand on them. The ardent fanboys and SIG themselves blame the users. Or compare it to Glock leg from the late 80’s however being involved in firearms throughout the Revolver and TDA to Glock transition the Glock leg was always us an issue with gun in hand bit untouched in the holster wasnIN fact a training issue (revokver days we were trained to start the trigger pull while drawing holsters even had the trigger exposed)

The issue has yet to be duplicated but has obviously happened.

While there is nothing wrong with MIM parts from SA and S&W they are quality US Made MIM SIG gets theirs from several different companies from different 3rd world companies and there is nothing wrong with lot numbers or way to trace where the MIM parts came from etc

And there are several places that have dropped the 320 (Chicago PD the FEDS and many others) places like Gunsite Rangemaster several police academies and IDPA have banned the use of 320’s so it doesn’t matter if we like 320’s or not they are no his at several venues unless agency issued (as far as Gunsite is concerned)

I will also add Dig has bad optics because how they have handled the issue and the fact the CEO has a path of drama from running Kimber QC in the ground to having issues with Sig QC when he took over to his suspended prison term in Germany with a couple other Sig employees (with like a 600k fine) for violating export restrictions

So there is a to. Of bad optics all the way around .

There's no tangible proof that the P320 fires itself.

However, some folks loose it when the P320 is mentioned.

But human error occurs, the USAF incidents had perps of misuse blame the gun vs. themselves, and Youtubers like to fiddle with it in order to make it fail so they can get others to click on their website/YouTuber page to make $$ for themselves.

It seems that a properly designed and made holster that secures the trigger area from any inadvertent poking is needed, like any striker-fired pistol.
