Optic plate price

Nope, just the plate. had to scrounge for some screws that worked and then i had to file them to make them fit flush with the bottom of the plate.

That just make no sense to me. Springfield should send the proper screws to attach the THEIR plate to THEIR gun.

I totally agree, none of the plates i got from them had the screws. The 3 plates should come with the gun too. i will say they are good plates not like that plastic crap S&W gives with their guns.

I have been giving some serious thought to buying a Prodigy, but Springfield's handling of the optic plate accessory is giving me pause. Whoever is in charge of that particular department should be fired. It gives the impression of shoddy, poorly organized supervision for the whole company.

Even without an optic it's fun to shoot.
Do you already know or own the optic you want on it? If not, I'd enjoy it without the optic until you find one you want.

An explanation on the price increase from someone with possible knowledge would help.
Certainly help more than statements about Canik or Walther.

No one in the Mod/Admin Team has any knowledge of why the price went up. Not super happy myself as the Prodigy is my next next purchase.

I agree - one of the marketing selling points was the cheaper optic plate.

Not a fan of the price getting doubled. Would love a reason why.

I don't like to speculate without having data to back it up.

Could be supplier costs, could be Agency wanted more money for them. Everything's gone up in price.

Sooo wondering if the screws that hold the top cap on will work? Seems logical that they may.
Plate needs three screws, 3 screws hold the top cap, anybody try those with the plate?

That’s how the XDm’s are set up. You use the three screws that hold the cover on to mount to plate.

Yes, they work but the screws for the sight to the plate are not included.

I did buy an additional plate a couple months back and I got screws with it.

Anyone have and idea of the torque specs to attach the plate to my XD-m Elite 10mm?
Obviously the optic will more than likely have it's own torque specs. I'm going with a Holosun 508t in green.

I don't know for certain but it seems plate to gun specs are in the 22-25 range.

I called SA customer service about this on my xdme 10 3.8. She said she would have to ask a tech and call me back which she did in about 30 min. She said 15 in/lbs so that’s what I did. Haven’t come loose yet.

You sure she wasn't talking about the optic to the plate ? Because that's right in the general area. 15-18.

No. She said I needed to reference the optic manufacturer specifications for that torque value.

To add insult to injury regarding this thread, I’ve been thinking about getting an optic ready HK VP9. It does not come with any plate and you have to order one from HK. Price? $29.00.

I'm actually surprised there's no statement from SA as to why the price increase. The cheaper optic plate cost was part of their original marketing for the Prodigy.
