Very COOL. I got charged on my first pig hunt. Thats when I really fell in love with hunting. While Wild Boar dont officially fall into the Dangerous Game category, they are close enuf' for me if youre on foot and close. Nothing without a rifle is dangerous in a tree stand at 100 meters.

Dangerous is measured in feet on the ground. Dangerous is when whatever is charging is faster than you. THATs what really makes the meal taste so good
 
My now dead ex-father-in-law had over 700 acres of land near Freer, TX. He would have us shoot all the hogs we could. Most of them were nasty. Terrible meat. All he asked of us was to make sure the carcass was not blocking the UTV trails, and to slit the stomach open. That would draw the buzzards and coyotes faster and clean up the mess quicker. Once in a great while, he would butcher out a young hog, but not very often. He just wanted them all dead. No matter how many we killed, there was always a lot more left. They are a huge problem for farmers and ranchers in South Texas.

I used to hunt regularly at a ranch in Eagle Pass Tx. He baited with corn from automatic feeders and had blinds set up. Whenever we got a kill he gutted them back at the ranch and buried the remains after butchering. He claimed that made them taste better since they were only eating corn.

My not so secret, secret is animal crackers. You eat one after first making the required animal sound then tossed a few out the blind for the pigs. The other trick was to dig a hole about 6" deep fill it with the cheap bag type breakfast cereal then pour in sour milk and make a trail of any berry flavor jello mix leading to the cereal bowl. That was like Hog cocaine. You should have seen the way they went for it

I always picked an archery blind to be closer to the bait, even though I was using a rifle. Most of the guys sat in rifle blinds 100m away. Some of the archery blinds were only 20 meters from the feeder. That was much cooler for me anyway
 
My ex-father-in-law had feeders with corn set up for deer. He didn't want any dead hogs near those, so anything we killed there had to be taken far away from the deer feeders. The smaller hogs were man-handled into the beds of the UTVs. No need for blinds. We just shot them from the UTVs. Huge hogs were dragged away with his ranch tractor. At one time he had a backhoe and would dig a trench to dump them in, but the backhoe was old and eventually broke down. That's when he let the buzzards and coyotes take care of the bodies.

A couple guys are wanting to add a "historic" flair and hunt with older weapons. One wants to use a M91/30 another a Post WW1 sporterized Mauser with double set triggers. Now Im thinking a Marting Henry in a Zulu War uniform with a gun bearer...

I'd use a 45-70 were it me. Or a 44 Mag with a 300gr bullet, or near that.
