Sweet comes partially from the barrel aging. The charring of the oak barrel can give off a lot of carmel notes in whiskey. Certain char types can accentuate that carmel in the long aging process. It can also be overdone and be an over riding flavorI too have grown weary of "mild" bourbons. I now gravitate toward Bottle-in-Bond (100proof) or higher. Just seems more flavorful to me, although some 95-ish-proofs I have found pretty tasty. Describing "sweet" for bourbons is kind of an oxymoron....it doesn't really mean sugary-sweet. Finger slip. I hit the laugh accidentallyToday marks 32 yrs since Operation Gothic Serpent. Aka.. Blackhawk Down
A toast to all those who served and who lost their lives this day, 32 yrs ago.
This whiskey was made for them.. the 19 stars on the label represent the 19 fallen servicemen. The wings for Army Aviation. The 93 proof for 1993.

Don't feel Bad, I have yet to taste a rye that I like...has nothing to do with post intents.Finger slip. I hit the laugh accidentally. I have never acquired a taste for rye. I drank too much of that back in Canada when I was in the military. I may have to re-broaden my horizons..
