Hey gang,
Yes, I made it out to the range today, my closer, older facility. I got a late start and wanted to be back in time to take the missus to Friday Fish Fry! You guessed it, I got my favorite lane.
These were the stars of the show today, G17L, Echelon 5.28" Threaded Barrel, and Echelon 4.5F Comp. All three got to try the Winchester NATO and the 115grain Remington. I didn't notice much difference. The NATO might've had a little more "pop".
First up was the Glock with the 6" barrel. Here's the first 15 rounds, it's been a while. You can tell.
I knew I could do better than that, so I taped on a new B-8 center and put 10 hits on it, taking a little more time.
The next 15 rounds punched holes in the 1/3 size USPSA silhouette.
Yeah, not my best work at 10 yards. I'm going to send a target out to 15 yards anyway. I usually do a little better on my favorite target. Here's a 10-shot string.
Meh. If you're generous with the line breaks, all but one is in the 9 ring. Still, I need to work on my consistency. Let's move on to my new pistol, the Echelon 5.28" Threaded Barrel. Here's the maiden voyage target with the first 15 rounds.
Well, I'll be. It's not often I get all of them in the black. Not bad for the initial effort. Let's see if I can keep it up. Let's punch 10 holes in the little silhouette target at 10 yards. (Notice I shortened the nickname to "ET" for "Echelon Threaded".)
OK, the group is not too big, but could be centered a bit more. Let's try a real "aim small, miss small" target. This is the 2" circle with 15 rounds on it.
OK, the first glam shot for my ET.
All things considered, I kind of like that. I wonder if this "ET" is any good at 15 yards. I patched up my favorite target, sent it to 15 yards, and after 10 hits, it came back like this.
Again, I'll beg your indulgence with the line breaks so only one hit is outside the 9 ring. I really think I can do better so I'm going to patch this up again for another try at 15 yards.
Well, about the same, just spread out a little less. But I'm having fun shooting this one so I'm going to use up the extra ammo I have and put 20 more hits at 15 yards.
OK, so now I'm just not paying attention and spreading all over the place. Let's move on to the Echelon 4.5F Comp with its Holosun optic. I'm starting with 15 rounds at 10 yards.
And there you see stereotypical Cliff. Here's 10 rounds at the 2" circle.
I'm pulling the muzzle low with my trigger press. Let's see if I can clean that up. Here's 15 hits on a small silhouette at 10 yards.
Well, that group is smaller than my fist but I'm not ready to adjust the dot. I might shoot it from a rest again to check my zero before blaming anything but me. Even though I'm not really feeling it, let's send a target out to 15 yards again.
Blah. A couple of really bad low/left flyers. But the rest are more centered so I'm sure it's just me. And just to prove it, I'm going to patch up this target one more time and put 20 more hits on it at 15 yards.
Hmmm. I let three get off the 8" reactive circle. But the rest are a fist sized group. Not to worry. I'm going to take these three out again at least a couple more times so's we can get reacquainted really well.
After I packed up my kit, I went perusing the display counter. This golden/copper/bronze/FDE/coyote tan pistol caught my eye.
If I was really a Glock fan I would've been mighty tempted. I know it's just a Glock, but it's still kind of pretty, don't you think? I was told this is the military contract version of the G19. If they'd make a Gen 6 version in this color, ...nah. Never mind. I gotta get home and take Mrs. BassCliff out for some fish fry. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Blessings to all.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
