Howdy friends and neighbors!
Be patient. I have a lot of pictures so it will take at least two posts. Today I took two dirty .45s, the XD45 Mod.2 Tactical and Garrison 1911 along with my new Sig 1911-X Freedom. I think I had a pretty good day. But you be the judge. I had 150 rounds and a partial box of 230 grain from LAX Ammunition, which gave me no malfunctions at all today. The pistols and partial box got loaded up in my Condition 1 case.
You guessed it. I got my favorite lane at the older facility.
Here they are in all their glory. The ammo is in boxes I had saved to load up from a can of loose ammo. It's a little ugly but practical.
I have uploaded paperwork to Sig to get three free magazines but have not been approved yet. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon. I like shooting 10-shot strings. I should just order more Chip McCormick extended magazines. All targets for this session were sent to 10 yards. I found out that I'm not real good at shooting an all black target, even if I stick on a red bullseye sticker.
This first target with my brand new Sig 1911-X came back like this.
Yes, just 8 shots on the first few targets. I wanted to use the (2) included factory magazines to make sure they work OK. It's a new pistol so I started a little low left. Drat. I will tape on a B-8 center and try again. Here's target #2.
That's a little better. Just one low-left flyer with seven hits inside the 10-ring. This Sig 1911 is a very, very nice pistol. I haven't even cleaned it yet. I just put a couple of drops of oil on the slide and had my way with it. As you can see, the B-8 center is a little easier for these old eyes to focus on at 10 yards.
Target #3, 8 rounds, came back like this. Yeah, I'm having too much fun with my new pistol.
I settled down with target #4 and got all but one in the 10-ring.
For target #5 I changed the target to the 1/3 size USPSA silhouette. I guess I was in the neighborhood of the A box.
I wanted to shoot a 10-shot string with my new Sig and the CMC magazine did just fine.
For fun I used a reactive 8" circle and it came back like this.
I guess I'm sill figuring out my hold for this sight picture. I think I can do better than that. I'll load up 10 more rounds and try one more time.
OK, that's a little better. The 9-ring on this target is only a little larger than the 10-ring on a B-8. Now it's time for the first glam shot with my new Sig Sauer 1911-X Freedom.
Let's move on to the Garrison. I did a little better with the all black target this time. Here's the first target using the Garrison .45.
I haven't measured that 9-ring so I can't tell you how big that group is. But that 10-shot string is not too horrible. Let me tape on a B-8 center and see if I can do better. You might recall last time I was struggling a bit with this pistol. Here's target #2.
Yep, three out of the black this time. I think I can do better. Here's target #3.
Yes, that was better but I let one fly too soon and it went way high. I was riding the reset too tightly. Drat. OK, to stay consistent I taped on anther 1/3 size silhouette. Here's target #4.
Well, that was a mess. Let me put on another 8" reactive circle, settle down, and see if I can make you proud. Here's target #5 using the Garrison.
Hey! That's nothing to sneeze at. I think that deserves a glam shot.
Hang on, I'll be back in the next post to finish up the session with my XD45 Mod.2 Tactical.
Thank you for your indulgence,
