Hi all,
It's a sunny 20° here today, all my chores are done, so I thought I'd make a trip to the range to relieve my boredom. This is my third session with my two optic pistols, trying to get them to become second nature. I'm still shooting primarily with iron sights. I was able to procure my favorite lane #9, even though it was pretty busy when I arrived at the newer facility.
I sent all my B-8 targets out to 10 yards today. You've met my Mod.3 and Echelon 4.5F Comp. Today they got mostly S&B 124 grain but also a little PPU 124 grain.
That's a Holosun 507C on the Mod.3 and a Hex Wasp on the Echelon. A matching Holosun should arrive tomorrow for the Echelon. But I'll make do for now. I think I started with the Echelon last week so this time I began with the Mod.3, not a very good beginning.
Target #2 was a little better.
I think each successive target got a little better but I was a bit disappointed in myself. I've shot this pistol much better. Target #3.
Target #4.
Target #5. I seem to be hitting low.
I even gave the sight a click to elevate but I think I've just got lousy trigger discipline today. Target #6 is really average.
For grins and giggles, I took a peak under the B-8 centers to see if there was a big ragged hole.
I wanted to put a couple of 10-shot strings on a reactive target using the 5x3sec scenario at 7 yards.
Here's the first scenario results with the Mod.3.
Here's the results of scenario #2 with the Mod.3.
I did two runs with both pistols. I'll include a link to the video at the end of this report. Now let's move on to the Echelon 4.5F Comp using the Hex Wasp optic. Here's target #1.
Hmm. Why those two low-left flyers? Inconsistent trigger discipline. Here's target #2.
A little better, only one bad flyer. Here's target #3.
Hey! They're all in the black with eight hits in the 10-ring. That's pretty good for me. Here's target #4.
I guess I shot this one a little faster, hence the greater spread. But still, seven hits in the 10-ring. Let's look at target #5.
OK, I'd call that a success. All in the black with seven hits in the 10-ring and a few in the X-ring. I guess I'm getting the hang of this pistol and optic combination. Now I'm going to change the optic and mess it all up again.
Then I shot a couple of 5x3sec scenarios with the Echelon. Here's the first one.
This is the result of the second 5x3sec scenario.
Here's a video of all four scenario drills, two with the Mod.3 followed by two with the Echelon. I would put two shots on target from low ready each time the target faced me. It was good practice to pick up the dot when presenting.
Now it's time for me to get outta here. I told Mrs. BassCliff that I'd stop by and pick up a fresh supply of frozen custard on the way home. I enjoy driving by this little farm down the road from the range. There should be a big field of corn here this summer. Everything is white right now but it will be all green soon enough.
And that was all the fun I had today. I'll take these pistols out next week for more of the same but the Echelon should be sporting a new Holosun 507C. I'll keep practicing my optics until they become second nature. Thanks for putting up with me. Blessings to all.
Thank you for your indulgence,
