Had planned on hitting range yesterday, but best laid plans and all that. Dogs woke me up about 0200 to go see what was in backyard (nothing - oldest guy (11) needed bathroom break
). Never really got back to sleep and never go to shoot when I feel too worn out/tired.
So today was the day! Took my CZ S2 Carry along as well as I was trying to deplete my stores of 147g 9mm ammo, 130 rounds of it were +P, and I didnāt want to put all that +P through the EDC X9.
I had planned to site in the RMR on the EDC X9 but didnāt bring any 124g so decided not to - then found I didnāt need to!
Range seems to be running low (out of) targets I prefer to use. This is best I found for getting done what I wanted to get done (see how optics were). All firing was done at 7 yds. I meant to do the EDC X9 first, but as I got ready to start noticed the target I marked āCZ S2 Carryā was downrange. In the words of Homer Simpson - āDOHā.
So picked up the CZ and put a bunch of rounds in the top and some more rounds in the bottom targets. For this gun, it was 50 rounds of 147g Winchester Super X WinClean FMJ, followed by 80 rounds of Winchester Ranger T 147g JHP.
First 50
The rest.
Up next was the EDC X9. The transition from the CZ trigger to the EDC X9 SAO only 1911 threw me for a loop and I hit the first few of rounds a bit low
. First 50, no adjustment to the Trijicon RMR that came back from Wilson Combat preinstalled - I LIKE it!
The rest. The lower ābean bagsā were all with the Winchester 147g Ranger T JHP. For some of the lower ones, I leaned against stall walls for support, most on the left. Leaning right, I wasnāt a fan of the ejected brass bouncing off my head
. So only a few supported shots coming from the right.
All in all, a great day. Only shooter on all ranges for the hour I was there! Depleted the 147g ammo and now all I have is 124g ammo in 9mm. Some Winchester NATO (1200 FPS) FMJ, some Federal American Eagle FMJ, and some HST (non +P). Those will be what I stock going forward (as long as I can find them for a reasonable price), And probably no more NATO once itās gone, unless I get a new gun I want to break in.
Next week Iāll start the process of dialing in my optics for the 1150 Muzzle FPS Federal Ammo, one gun each trip! Well that, and work on this drill >
