Reddot

My Hellcat Pro is the 1st pistol I ever put a red dot on. Obviously it's gonna look cleaner and be a little easier to conceal without. The U-dot factory sights are great also. If that's what works better or looks better for you then that's what you use. No right or wrong here.

If you just think it looks cleaner and like it better that way, then again, that's what you do. We all have guns we like the looks of and just as big a list of guns we think are ugly or become ugly when dressed up wrong. 😉

It took a little getting used to finding the dot when I 1st put it on (if that's your problem) but it has become much easier and kind of automatic anymore with practice and range time.

Good luck with whichever way you choose.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

Has anyone who has a hellcat pro with optics has anyone took there Reddot off and ran iron sights because I just don’t it I think it looks a lot cleaner

There are a lot of guys here with a lot more experience than I. I've been seriously training and practicing for only five years, so let me share what little I know.

I've just started to dip my toe into the optics pool. Until very recently, all my training and practice has been with iron sights. I'm pretty comfortable with most of them,...the U-notch, not so much. But the more I practice with my optic, the more I like it. I have a couple more pistols with optic cuts that I think will get one soon. We'll see.

But hey, you do you. There are a few determining factors, your eyesight, training, fitness, dexterity, etc, and whatever makes you comfortable and confident. Perfect practice makes perfect. My range offers a red dot training course. Do you have access to one? It might help you get accustomed to all this new-fangled technology.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I’ve played with a dot on an EDC pistol. It’s taken a while to learn to use it, and I’m still not convinced the extra bulk to conceal is worth it. I may yet wind up taking it off. I’m still faster on target w/o the dot and very slightly more accurate with it…

It depends how you’re concealing it I reckon. And which dot and which pistol.

If you continue training with the dot I promise you will be faster with it than you are irons. There’s no physical way for it to be otherwise. That said, everything ain’t for everybody. It’s a lot of extra effort for a second or a fraction of a second.

Of course it does. Any modification to a CCW could be a potential liability and requires a lot of re-training.
BS!
That is an age old fear mongering myth.
Point out one case where that played a pet in a successful prosecution?

If one is getting prosecuted it’s over the borderline of being a bad shoot OR the accused talked himself into charges OR his actions were just not justified.

And even half true simply changing a sighting system does nothing to the mechanically alter the guns operation.

To the OP I have taken professional Red Dot classes (Dave Spaulding) and shot quite a bit. And despite offending the cult of the Red Dot church they do not make me faster significantly and as for range yes hih can decrease some groups but until I fail to hold rounds in black if a B8 at 25 yards I will probably be ok without one.

I simply took the classes as whem I instruct I see them in my classes and have to be familiar (no different tjan is uiu don’t carry a revolver bug if teaching should be familiar with them)

Two well known respected national trainers one Tom Givens of Range-Master shoots Irons and the other Dave Spaulding Handgun Combatives runs Red Dot because of vision. Either one will shoot circles around folks half their age!

The key wether revolver striker 1911 DA/Sa red dot or irons BE HONOST with yourself and use what you shoot and carry the best!

Spot on, I will bust that azz with irons or Rds, even if viewing irons through rds.

Of course... but losing a match is a lot different than losing my life.

Respectfully a lot of folks that have never seen the elephant point out self defense use is somehow a competition. It’s not as there are no rules (other than don’t shokt the friendlies)

Everyone wants to point out red dots have to be used because well speed and jailbait splits. Not the case
lAPD SWAT has Half second split standards….05 second and they do not mis. That is fast enough to make hits where they need to be and gives the shooter time to assess if yhe 2,3 or 4th shot is LEGALLY, Needed and oh yeah those rule 4 no shoots that are everywhere (similar to the no shoots in IDPA and USPSA everyone completely ignores while muzzle sweeping them doesn’t care about the misses or no shoot hits but asks for their time)

you do not need to be any faster than that that’s why police shootings they go more than 3-7 rounds end up being a mag dunp and a non ceitical ankle hit.

Have a Holosun EPS Carry green dot on my current EDC. Took a while to get use to it. But I'm good with it.
Have 4 other guns with Optics on them. I prefer green over red.
Only optic I'm not sure about yet is a Holosun SCS-MP2-GR I have on my M&P 2.0 Compact. Not sure how the "no" battery thing is going to work.
