Ruger GP100 in 10mm

10mm revolvers are cool, I have a 610, only thing with Ruger is they don’t recommend shooting .40 in them, while the 610 says you can use both.

I got a 3” 10mm GP100 last year after wanting one for a few years. The GP100s and L-frames are about as big as I like to carry. Since the GP’s 10mm is the biggest bore in that frame in a six-shot, I had to have one.
It’s a good gun, but while the GP100 is only slightly larger than an L-frame in some areas, they’ve always felt a lot bigger than the L to me in handling and carrying. I keep finding myself wishing for a 3” 10mm L-frame whenever I pick up the GP100.
I’m too much of a S&W guy, I guess, but I’m still trying.
Ruger may not recommend shooting .40 in them, but TK Custom makes thicker clips for shooting .40 ammo. I have some, and they’ve worked 100% so far. I’ve tried .40 in the standard thickness clips and got maybe 20% failures to fire. The rim thickness is a little thinner in the .40 (at least in the ammo I have) so let’s the case sit a little deeper so the primer is sitting at the “maybe” point.
FWIW, 10mm shoots just fine without clips but of course you don’t get the ejection benefit. However, I found that most 10mm cases fall out anyway without any help besides gravity.
That’s with factory to moderate loads. Fired cases from nuclear 10 loads may not come out so eagerly.

One thing I didn’t understand the Ruger recommendation of a separate moon clip for the 40 vs 10mm where theS&W is one size fits all
I have nebwr heard or read where S&W recommends agains 49 just that the factory supplied moon clips won’t work reliably with 40 (short primer strikes etc)
