My revolver, when cocking the hammer will not catch and if I release any pressure, the hammer will follow? I removed the cylinder, bounce checked the base pin and when I do cock it the cylinder locks up perfectly? I’m confused why the hammer won’t stay back. Any ideas? Thanks.

only owning 1 revolver (629) the trigger was adjustable and if adjusted very light it would do the same you're inquiring about. cylinder open(from what i can remember) won't let the hammer fall. it's been about 30 years since i've owned it.

Yep if your not familiar with the internal workings I'd send it to Ruger. They are usually fast turn around
