Should I or should I not?

Okay here's the question. While shopping around at local farm store for a Ruger 10/22, which they didn't have, I noticed a bolt action that was not a Ruger nor a .22lr. The sales lady pointed out that it was a Remington 700ADL in 6.5 creedmoor. As it happens I've been on the hunt for a inexpensive 6.5 creedmoor to play around with. I was hoping to get the new Ruger American predator model in 6.5. The Ruger seem to be unobtainable in my area at the moment. Well the Remington was priced at $350 marked down twice from $600. I'm not a fan of the ADL model since they do not have a bottom magazine dump door, to unload you must run every cartridge in and out of the chamber one at a time.
Obviously since it was made in Ilon NY it is an older model. The action was smooth the silk The bolt slid like greased glass, unfortunately it had a trigger lock on it and of course it could not be removed until I buy the firearm, so I have no idea what the trigger is like. I also know some of the guns that were made at the old factory we're not thought of highly at all. It also didn't come with any scope rings or picatinny rail it was as basic as can be with a plastic stock.
So should I walk away and forget all about it?

Ps. I'm aware asking you folks is akin to asking your crack dealer if you should buy more crack...😬

Sure. That's a good price & if you're willing to put some $$ in it to bring it up to were you want it.

You can restock it with a BDL stock, and install BDL bottom metal.

You ca get both at Stocky's Stocks.

Mounts and/or rails at Brownells.
I was not aware of the ADL to BDL conversion. I'll definitely look into the posthaste. The picatinny rail not that big of a deal, I can do that myself. The Ruger American like my Savage came with one installed. Personally I thought for the original $600+ price that it should have had one from the factory.
Thx

Sounds like a very good price, my only concern was if I remember right, there was an issue with the bolt closing with safety on, the gun could still fire…..can’t remember all the details though, but if you wanted a 6.5, that would be a good one, like Talyn said, you could just restock it

Honestly that is my worry, I've also heard some bad stories of the Remington triggers and safety near the end of life bankruptcy.
I think I will go back and ask for the manufacturers operation manual, maybe that will shed more light on which trigger it comes with. It is really sad so many companies now insist on trigger locks and not allowing a potential buyer from testing the trigger without buying first.

Well, I've decided to pass on this. By the time I buy a stock, triggerguard and floor plate I'll have close to $800 in this Rem700. I'm still not sure which Remington trigger it actually comes with. So if I must change out the trigger there's more money. The company absolutely will NOT budge on taking the trigger lock off until I purchase the firearm.
So I walk away.

Thanks to all that commented.
