Smaller Guns for Defense?

Well you are certainly welcome to follow the crowd, as for me I might opt for something more than what the crowd is doing. Kinda like when your mom said "If everyone was jumping off the cliff, would you jump too?" Its a lowest common crowd thing,

Your choice may work for you and Im happy for you but your reasoning seems questionable.

A handgun is at best inconvenient to pack all day, and if it’s heavy enough, big enough, or uncomfortable enough sooner or later most folks will either leave it behind

IDK, Ive always considered it a privilege to carry a handgun and a responsibility to carry a gun that I can fight with when needed. Yes as Ive said I do on rare occasions carry a tiny handgun; but those are for special events where I know the threat is low. So I go back to, if you can choose your attacker, and can be sure that he will be alone; then a mini gun might work for you BUT as a daily carry it seems like a good idea to be ready for more than the single mugger from the 1970s

One time several years ago I packed a 4 5/8”. Super Blackhawk concealed for a week just to see if I could. I did it, but it’s not something I have any desire to do again.
Again IDK, because I used to pack two SAAs, sometimes with an additional derringer all concealed. I didnt find it difficult OR uncomfortable....but you should do as you think best

I think it's like 9/10ths about the holster. With a proper enigma setup I could carry a ~20rd, 4.5" duty size pistol fairly easy. You have to commit to your gun, carry it daily and tweak the holster until it's right. It took me several months of wearing, dealing with issues and fixing them. I have callouses on my stomach from where my gun rubbed but that's since been fixed properly. You don't just magically stumble into the perfect configuration immediately. It's through daily carry and persistence that you get better.

Ruger LCP max in my front right pocket. In the past year I can count on one hand how many times I’ve carried it. 12 rds of 380 is better than harsh words or a sharp stick. 90% of the time it a 9mm appendix carry. But some times it a 1911 in 10mm and I have been known to carry a 44mag from time to time.
I work part time ( have to be able to pay for my gun addiction) and I carry there as well. Now it’s a HellCat Pro appendix carry. Company I work for doesn’t allow their employees to carry but what they don’t know won’t hurt them. I’ve been there 3 years and I have never been at work without a handgun. Yes I will be fired if I ever have to use it but there are plenty of jobs out there.

For years my EDC was my SA XDs .45. I loved it. And still have it. But I guess for some people it would be considered to small for carry purposes.
Can you make head shots with it at say 15 yards? Do you carry at least one full size mag as a spare?

For awhile and still today I sometimes carry a pair of 1911 Officer Models. Yep they are smaller than a Glock 19 but they arent mini guns

My impressions of you are of a guy who really goes out looking for and wanting trouble to happen, and just can't find it. How much longer do you intend to preach your thoughts on how and what others carry? You've stated many times before that you are out of Fs to give.

Hmmm how'bout we agree that I expect trouble, because thats the way the world is today.

...and perhaps maybe when folks say this or that they shouldnt be surprised when someone disagrees. Ive learned to expect it. The difference is I can back up my reasoning with more than just feelings, like real life training, knowledge, and experience that I paid for with sweat and a bit of blood.

When someone says "_______" then dont be upset when their declarations are questioned.

Your profile pic is a hard hat diver, if thats really you, whenever we talk deep diving Ill defer to you, because you have the experience. If you have some other special knowledge then Ill defer to it when the discuss comes up too.

Can you possibly answer a question in less than a 3 sentence paragraph?

Yes, I was a commercial diver for 12 years, until I was nearly killed by it. But I don't go on and on and on and on and on about it. Just go back to writing articles for your blog. Yes, I have seen it. If that's what you call your published works as a published author, then I do question every little part of your life that you like to brag about.

Nope my books are separate. Those articles were for a friend's new business but thanks for checking them and me out. I hope you enjoyed the adventure

As for your diving experiences, that sounds exciting. I for one would enjoy hearing your stories. I did scuba starting in the 70s before neoprene wet suits and single hose regulators were just becoming the cool guy stuff. I was kinda at the end of the Sea Hunt gear days. I never went deeper than 60 feet. You deep diver guy are cool.

This is the condescending tone and answer that irritates the good folks here. You just can't get it.
No I get and I start off civil but when guys attack me personally and my points with no reasoning beyond "I dont like it"; I wonder how they like it in return.

Further your use of the "good folks here" comment seems to exclude me so I wonder if that excludes me as good person and how that makes you for not only judging me but to say it?

I have responded with Likes and Loves to some of your posts and others, because I AGREED with what you said in those posts and when someone says something which I disagree, I say that too. If you want to surround yourself with sycophants then fine. Discord is a way to learn; but you have to be willing to learn even when you dont like the source or message
