Smith & Wesson Acquires Savage Arms for $160 Million

Savage has needed a buyer for a while. We will likely see more M&A in this sector.
The last savage I bought was maybe 8 years ago in 338lm. It's a very good firearm and was better than expected! Being a Winchester rifle fan i didn't know what to really expect, but was enjoying how well it shot (300wm ba/le 26" 110 action) so much I bought another in a stealth model (24"). The 300wm was bought 12 years ago then another 300wm and 338lm making 3 factory rifles. Liked the 110 actions enough i bought 2 actions (action, bottom metal and mag kit) to build another 300wm then my favorite cartridge of all times the 264wm.

When I was younger, in the 80s, we referred to them as "Salvage," for QC reasons.

Maybe they will bring back the 99? That might really boost sales and make them competitive. I just hope they don't run them into the ground like they did T/C.

I bought this 110 tactical .308 in 2018/2019. At the time Remington was in the dumps and putting out garbage. I never fell in love with it. It just didn't have the silky smooth bolt action, in fact if I didn't yank hard to the rear I short stroked and the bolt would not pick up the cartridge. I eventually traded it in on a new Remington 700 26" heavy barrel .308. The best part is I they gave me all but $25 of what the Savage cost on the trade in. The Remington silky smooth action was back, I was back in love 😘
