Smith & Wesson Model 19 Combat Magnum: A .357 Classic Returns

Think that's what this one is

I have a newer S&W revolver with the 2 piece barrel and it is extremely accurate.

While I have used and have several older S&W revolvers if you want a shooter get a new one.

Some purists buck when say this (and it’s not just me Bruan Eastridge and Darryl Bolke if American Fighting Revolver will say the same thing) but it’s 100% true and not emotional, the new S&W Wheelguns are stronger and made better than they ever were. But folks want to be emotional about those older models!

And as far as the Classic line not being 100% S&W doesn’t have a lot of the old frames and other parts. I sent in a 686-2 and they have no frames or many parts as it’s been discontinued for so long.
And finding a used one for a decent price good luck

I have the newer #66 with the 2-piece barrel, I just don’t like it, there first 2-piece barrel gun was the #620, junk, end of barrels were prone to crack and break, plus all the new revolvers have EDC rifling, not to traditional lands and grooves, they look more like a polygonal barrels now

I will agree that short lived 620 was up there with the Sigma. Not their best product line and why it was so short lived .

I have had a lot less issues with S&W QC with a lot more of those I have bought than the few Rugera and others. I sent an SP101 back twice and they never could get it right.

The one S&W I had issues they fixed no questions and have sent me a lot of free small parts iver the year. Even hit a free replacement guide rod and spring for a well used M&P when I called about buying one.

So I’ll give them that!

I have an assortment of S&W revolvers from 1886 through the 1990's, including a pre-27 .357. Quality of the new ones just doesn't measure up to the older guns. The model 19's of the 70's are of the highest quality and I have staked my life on that.
They definitely were, no MIM, no lock, great triggers, better finishes and regular rifling
