Springfield Heatseeker 6.5 Creedmoor

Hey everybody,
does anyone know the way to torque the barrel on the Heatseeker? I have looked everywhere for videos on this and I cannot find anything about this. there's got to be a way to torque this barrel but from I have read so far, there's no Action Wrench head that will fit into the receiver that is built-in into the chassis. plenty of videos of gun owners with bolt-in's with removable receivers where you can use action head wrenches with a torque wrench attached. if anyone knows anything about how to torque this barrel or that can lead me to a specific source, please let me know. Thanks!

I have and they told me to send the rifle back to Springfield so that they can install the barrel which was not the answer I was looking for. that could take months and I got to go thru my FFL dealer. these customer service reps have very little knowledge of details such as this. people swap out barrels all the time and seems to me there has to be an easier way to perform this task. as bad as I hate to do this, I may have to just crank it down with a reaction wrench rod thru the mag-well and hope I can get it close to 90 ft lbs. thanks for your inquiry.

No offense but if your calling tech support for how to put your rifle apart/together, they are always going to tell you to send it in, people that custom build rifles don’t need to ask the general customer service rep. And you do not have to go through an FFL, you can ship the gun back to SA and they can return it directly back to you (same with any FFL). You can ship me your gun, I log it in from you and then send it directly back to you.

By the way it is based off the Remington 700, and one of the only barrel makers for the waypoint, SJA specs 80ft pounds for their replacement barrels.

If you're going to change the barrel then remove the stock/chassis 1st. Regardless of what it's based off of it still might not fit the action! Lugs could be different although action screws could be spaced the same, triggers could he swapped and possibly use the same mags. IIRC my 110 action wrench is compatible with rem 700's (I would need to verify that tho). Does it use a barrel nut like savage does or is the barrel shouldered like 700's? I reread and no mention of average nut, so must be shouldered. Most barrels like that are 60-100#'s of torque. I haven't found it makes much difference as long as it's torqued least 60#. Then again, I've only built the 1's that use nuts. I only do 50#'s on those.

I wish there was a barrel nut on this. it would make this whole process a lot easier, but no barrel nut for this setup. there are also no action screws for this Heatseeker as it does not have an removable receiver. the receiver is built-in into the chassis. if the receiver is based off the Remington 700, then I can use a wrench head to properly torque the chassis onto the barrel and be done with it. I thought that only the 2-pin rail that came with the rifle was only based off the Remington 700 meaning that you can mount any Remington 700 footprint optics on it, and that the chassis size or where the bolt locks into place inside the chassis was proprietary.

No it’s not, the action sits in the chassis

Barrel is shouldered like the 700

So I have a stupid question for the OP why are you removing the barrel and what are you replacing it with since there are less than a handful of places making the 2020 barrels, they all have long lead times and all of them would give you the support you are looking for like which wrench to use, what they recommend for torque etc. Plus it does not sound like you actually have one of the heatseekers since you do not know the chassis and action are two different parts.
