Have a JM marked Marlin 336 in 30-30. Have a nice 11 point Indiana Whitetail and bagged a 180 pound hog in Texas woth it. My favorite rifle round. And truth be told if I had to go down to one Centerfire rifle that would be it!

It’s got as much to do with the lever action rifles chambered for the cartridge as the cartridge itself. Those guns are endearing. They also happen to be very capable hunting tools.

You can effectively use the cartridge in the Western Oregon Coast Range. Daddy relied on his Marlin 336 chambered in .35 Remington instead of the .30-30. In the Cascades and Eastern Oregon, he used his Reminton Autoloader in .30-.06.

They worked well until the day he died 51 years ago. (He would have been 109 years old this September 29th.)
