This Knife...Faked Inscription Date?

Dobbinsky

Master Class
Got this knife several years back. Thought it was pretty cool, but I doubt the inscription on the blade. Looks more to me like something modern, done in the Philippines for an easy mark strolling a marketplace. The blade is around 7" long.
I did have a genuine bolo knife made for me by a Negrito when I was there, a very nice one. It was stolen from my luggage on a civilian flight to my next assignment. THAT really pizzed me off!

That could easily be from 1945 but I don't think the inscription adds value. Looks like it was done with a pretty sharp toll of sorts; raised a nice burr. I wonder how soft that blade is.

My Great Uncle brought this home from the pacific Theater WWII, Army Air Corps on Guam and other islands.

I think it was made from a leaf spring

That's cool. With a history! The bolo I had stolen from my luggage was made from a leaf spring as well. Pretty common material for them to use. Very poor people.

Thanks, It took me a while to figure out the weird guard on it then it suddenly hit me. One side is a bottle opener and the other side is a can opener.

E.D. Hayden was my Great Uncle Bus Hayden. I guess Herman was the maker??

If you lose your John Wayne, there's always that knife!
