I got to check out a new 1894 a couple weeks ago and it was very very nice.

As nice as they are, the days of reasonably priced Marlins are very long gone..........
Not to impune the quality you're paying for, but starting prices are triple what Marlins were once priced at.
But, it is what it is......

A lot of stuff is more expensive than 5-20 yrs ago. That's what inflation & the devaluation of the USD does.

Ok…

They make a stainless .357 16” carbine, I’ll likely be in line.

I’d also seriously consider one in a hard-use (DLC, Ceracoat, etc) finish.

I’ll really jump on a .41 Mag anything…

Of course you would! At 1 time there was a DE in 41mag (not 41ae). It is a formattable cartridge. A friend of mine still has his Ruger in 41mag.
