To answer your question as written you “can” do anything you want because it’s your gun, I’m going to add if you don’t mind is should you?
There have been multiple discussions on dry firing firearms, and as expected many different views from many different people. Your owners manual has all the does and don’ts and if your still unsure you can always contact Springfield CS and ask them.
Will dry firing your 1911 RO cause damage to it? I actually can’t say yes or no. I have read not to do it!
I (have) to dry fire my XD Mod2 sub compact to remove the slide, aside from that I NEVER dry fire any of weapons.

When I attended the Springfield Armory 1911 armorer course at IALEFFI 2 years ago the instructors told us to not dry fire a 1911. Not sure what the mechanism of harm is or how much harm is done, but that was the official word.

As long as you have a few spare parts on hand, firing pins, firing pin springs (good for about 5000 dry fires) and spare firing pins stops you should be good to dry fire

I have never dry fired any of my firearms, except to remove slide.
I use replica air guns,they are the same weight and controls as the real thing.

The .45 has more simulated recoil
