Too Much Fun at the Range

SimonRL

Ronin
Did a trip to the range with @KillerFord1977 to zero in the new Fusion XP Pro and break out the TX22 PDW. KF brought his Legion 226 X5 and a couple of AP5s.

Shot a couple of rounds low with the XP Pro dialed in the dot and got on target, a couple more clicks and then 4 rounds on top of other pretty much dead center. Not bad for first time running the gun. I was extremely impressed with how smooth and flat it shot and suggested that KF to give it a go and it only took one shot to confirm my thoughts. I think some people make this gun thing look way harder than it is.

I’d show you the target after we were done with it, which was the usual fare that we sell @Belt Fed. You know, the one with gaping holes that used to be stick on targets, however we had so much fun doing this with the TX22 PDW that we forgot to take pictures! We eventually managed to direct this buzzsaw accurately on target. It spits out 22 rounds in 2 seconds. It’s the grown up equivalent of chasing your buddies around the street with a Roman candle. Ridiculously entertaining! I immediately went home and ordered a couple of 34 rd stick mags. And I believe KF will now be ordering a chassis for his TX22.

Did you notice the fusion rejecting brass into your optic? This was a common issue when I was researching them.
No. In fact, a lot of the things that people mentioned like a spongy trigger I did not encounter. I put a 10lb recoil spring in it. Lubed it with gun butter and ran 124gr NATO and it ran flawlessly. I drilled out a 4 in target at 15 yards with pretty rapid shots no problem. I would say it is at least as flat a shooter as my GTO and the grip is very comfortable. No hot spots.

I’ll point out an example of “proper technique and fundamentals” on pistols.
This is why learning solid fundamentals of shooting a pistol is so paramount. If you are all over the board, then 2 things have happened:
- you didnt learn and utilize proper fundamentals
- you have a disablitiy or age that doesnt allow for proper employment of fundamemtals anymore.

#2 is a legit reason for shooting issues. Health, muscle or movement issues with age, accidents, or such is legit.

#1 is just not employing or learning the proper fundamemtals.

One does not need to be a bullseye shooter everytime, but one should be consistent with their groupings. If you are all over the board, then its time to go back to learn the proper fundamentals.
There are many, many on here that are great shooters. With reloads, tac dudes that lose arms, with the posse, running even frt’s, etc.

If you are not “consistent” then rethink the fundamentals.

I see it at the range every week. Looks like a shotgun went off on the target. Poor fundamentals.

@SimonRL new purchase of a Fusion 9mm was new to me. Never fired before or touched until first shot. Same with @TEXASforLIFE hand cannon.
Yet, both were employed with precision. Dead center with both on first shot at 10 yards. Proper fundamentals. Regardless of pistol, fundamemtals matter. Not mag cap, not whether its a 9mm, .45, 10mm or evev a 45/70. Slow down and learn to shoot proper. Not all instructors are good or qualified. If your buds or instructors cannot assist in taking the fundamentals to the next level, find someone who can.

@SimonRL range session today.

Running some Mixtape subsonics that were as quiet as a small snap of the fingers. Crazy quiet with that can the mixtape. 🤯🤯
We ran our AR’s and some Sigs
My new LWRC M6

Simon pulled a first shot pistol bull along with myself at a first pistol shot bull at 20yrds

Then, after I Dialed in the LWRC for 50 yard zero.
forgot to adjust for 20 yrds indoor and shot low .. doh !!! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
Rookie error. Still a good group, but low.. anyway .. great run today.
Had a lane next to us right blasting away with a Judge .410 🫣. Then broke out his 9mm and shot my target on top right .🫣🫣🙄🙄
