Trump wants to bring back looney bins

The problem is the American Psychiatric profession has lost its way.

Yes its an important field and yes there are patients who need help; the problem is there seems to be a loss of focus or at least where the focus belongs

Problem with bringing back mental institutions is they are run like the prisons, not really helping people, just getting people in there to get their $$$$$. Many people now in office do need to be in mental hospitals though. Imagine if you will... djt in Arkham! :ROFLMAO:

Thats the Pro and Con of privately run facilities. Todays Mental Health (Group) Homes are run by Mental Health Practices. Theres at least one MD involved but usually run by a CEO whos not a MD. Im sure they have good intentions and usually try to do their best; But I think they often loose site of the bigger picture. The next time one of your neighbors wants to sell their home, dont be surprised if one of those Practices doesnt look at the potential of buying it for another Group Home. It all sounds good until your new neighbors decide to bark at the moon one night (ask me how I know). When that happens and you complain, dont be surprised, if suddenly YOU are the bad guy for not being sympathetic. Stuff like that doesnt happen often; but how often does it have to happen in YOUR neighborhood.

There IS a fine line with housing mental health CLIENTS (youre not supposed to say "Patient" anymore). On the one hand they should be treated humanely and hopefully given treatment BUT the flip side is it right to house them in a normal neighborhood AND how much freedom should they have while undergoing treatment? At what point can they REFUSE treatment and still be allowed to roam freely in public
