The first time was when the front sight came off after about 250 rounds. The second time was for broken extractor #1 after about 1000 rounds. I was going to replace it on my own but SA customer service suggested i send it back so it could be fitted. A few weeks ago the extractor snapped again after about another 600-700 rounds. Rather than sending it back again i bought a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof extractor and installed/fitted it myself along with new recoil spring, firing pin and spring.

i got this set up, 3, maybe 4 years ago, and had to use it 4 times on various 1911's...

i watched the Bill Wilson video on how to adjust an extractor, quite simple actually, but i prefer the tool.

i watched the Bill Wilson video on how to adjust an extractor, quite simple actually, but i prefer the tool.

interesting. thanks. it did the bill wilson method and it worked just fine. barely had to bend it.

what i like about the tool is that, the extractor cannot rotate once the screw sets up against it, and gets bent off center.

then just reverse the extractor, if you need to "undo" too much tension.

takes a wee bit more time with the tool, over Wilson's way

but being a former wrencher.......and a fan of Tim the tool man Taylor.........i just had to have it.
