Second gun I bought when Uncle Sam no longer required my services was a Colt Series 70. I still have it. (First was Colt AR 15 SP-1.most of today's crowd must grow out of their plastic toys and mature into the 1911
When I'm going to the range with someone who hasn't shot a pistol very often I will take a 5" 1911, Compact, Sub C, and a Micro C. They are all 9mm. Go over the safety and operation then start blasting. Every person so far has found that shooting can be fun. The Compact size seems to win out on selection when we are done. The lack of exposure to firearms in general is a major problem. Hunting is declining (expense generally) and families no longer participate in shooting activities. I started (shooting) with my children when they were around 10-11 but always took them to the deer lease and the blind. When they were old enough to get a license they qualified and have continued down the road. Ask someone you know (open minded) who is not necessarily Pro Gun or an inexperienced co-worker to a range trip. Make the day fun and educational and maybe add a person to the group. Like many here I was exposed to guns at an early age and still cherish the days hunting with my Dad. We have the power to reduce the uninformed walking into a Gun Store, IMO.
