Two of Remington's biggest failures...

I’ll agree the new R 51 from Remington was a flop. Which was probably victim to being released at a time when the company had a lot of QC issues (even with kings tha ding products that were cataloged with strong sales for decades) and financial issues.
So that said one should probably look at companies history. Several that might be primarily rifle or handgun makers today have made both or started with the other in the 1800’s or early 1900’s.

Savage had their 1907 that was a contender and faired well in the military trials of 1911.
Companies consolidated or discontinued stuff off and on even back then.

True, but then the AR wasn’t a Colt either (ARmalite😏) but Colt built an awful lot of them for military and civilian market. I really don’t care who makes a firearm. A good design with quality manufacturing will be a decent produce. Poor QC and doesn’t matter how good the design, the gun will suck.
