You're not going to like what I have to say about unions. There was a time when unions were vital to the growth of workers in this country. But in my opinion, they're no longer useful. We have so many labor laws, and lawsuits, that business can't abuse folks like they once did. A union miner relayed to me, that he didn't need the union, as much as the union needed his money.

I have been around unions for 50 plus years, and have seen both sides, but the reality is unions tend to protect poor and mediocre workers and that cripples business. Just my observations.

If you want a new truck, walk over to the fleet lot, and price a truck there. Most all the electronics in white exterior. Want a different color, put a wrap on it. Cheaper than a paint job and you can have custom colors.

Like I said you boys just don't get it. Fact...if you have never been on that side of the table, you're not in a position to pass judgement.
i worked for a unionized trucking company.........to me, the unions bleed the companies dry.. we have labor laws in this country, that can protect the workers, up to a certain point. the unions let scumbag employee's keep thier jobs, when they should have been fired.

so uh...yeah...I CAN pass judgement.

furthermore, the costs of the new trucks is more than outrageous, especially when after about 3 years...they start rot away....or how about just fall apart, case in point, the Chevy 4 door cabs at the roof line, cracking..??????

please do tell me what F-ing truck is worth over $100,000 grand brand new, and rots away after 3 years..??

also, one cannot compare the workmanship of a carpenter, cabinet maker, plumber, electrician, stone/brick mason, who are more often than not, SKILLED craftsmen.........over an overly paid factory worker building CRAP, on an assembly line.........???

assembly line workers do not deserve such high wages.

when the produce crap.

1 more thing, that old saying, "never buy a vehicle made on a friday or monday" was absolutely TRUE.

i hauled for a trucking company, on the GM..JIT (just-in-time), dispatch board for the GM plants in MI, & OH, including thier vendors.......i cannot tell you the number of times, i pulled into ANY GM factory lot, and in the rear of the building were DOZENS of cars, in need of...hoods, fenders, doors, trunks.......why...???? the factory workers STOPPED working, and went home.

come on a monday night when i pulled in..??

the lots were EMPTY of all those cars, that needed to go bACK INSIDE....and GET BUILT...

go cry on someone's shoulder that gives a F about auto workers............

Don't lose sight of the fact that union workers especially in the skilled trades are highly trained and their employers rely on them to deliver the best product and or service available.
tell us that again, at the next motor vehicle recall announcement.....

i'm dying to hear that.

assembly line workers ain't too skilled....unless you mean sitting in the coffee break room..???

What does a government employee need a union for?!? It took me eighteen months to fire an employee that didn't even show up to work!

Wanna know why your mailed package takes as long as it does? Go ask a union postal employee!

Wanna know why there's as many near misses at airports? Go ask the union workers they have tried to fire!

There's too much protection for marginal employees.

Submitted for youre thoughts. The back story is her boyfriend had recently been killed by thugs and she becomes the Charles Bronson of Death Wish. The movie is less important than the study of would you intercede?

You have heard of a Union made product...right?
YES! and if I see a union made sticker I'm NOT likely to buy it.
10 years without a contract. Ten years all pay steps frozen. Ten years of prices going up and my pay staying the same. New Warden came in found out what was happening and went to the legislature demanding a pay raise. $4 an hour was agreed on. The "we're for the worker" union took it to court had a stop put to it, took over and negotiated the raise down to $3. But the union itself got the right to exclusively be the only union we could have. And that's just the most egregious of B.S they pulled. Unions may, may have had a place once upon a time. That time is over; all they are now is out for the Union and their bought and paid for politicians, not the worker.

Unions, especially for law enforcement and all first responder groups, care essentially useless! They have no teeth and they don't offer much for the employees. The legislative bodies pretty much ignored them in all negotiations.
