verizon, serious with this crappola..???

Old_Me

Emissary
ok, so each month wife and i get "the bills"

wife pays with a check, stamp, and drop in mailbox, at least 1 week before due date.

i, on the other hand....pay via online......

verizon, my credit cards, i wait till the actual "date due", and pay all my bills before 5 PM, on that date.

for now, the past 2 months......verizon seems to be very serious about paying the "last minute"

they "claim" on the website, to pay 3 to 5 days BEFORE the due date, due to processing times...

uh...once i pay that verizon bill, it gets accepted....BY THE COMPUTER on thier end.......

but now, like i said, the past 2 months now, verizon..."shuts down" my access to pay my bill.....

something like..."sorry we are having issues, try again later"

what "issues" can they be having when its all on the computer..??

anyway, i try for several hours, and get the same message.

it then forces me to call an 800 number and pay thru a company for a fee of $3.50, over the phone

yes, its legit..it shows on my bank statement, and verizons page

it still takes verizon up to 3 days to process even that payment.....

yeah, i know..."pay earlier"'''

easier said then done, when you have to wait for your SS check, pension and annuity monies to get deposited into my checking account.

now......1 day AFTER the due date....???

wham-bam...suddenly...........i can connect to my verizon account.....

HHHMMMMmmmmmmm................

at least 2 things...

1) wife and i have been with Verizon for 23 years.....

2) we NEVER agree to "automatic pay" of ANY bill(s)

i DO NOT want any creditor to take out monies we MAY NOT HAVE in our accounts..

especially as a retired couple, on a fixed income

i called and wanted to talk with the billing dept......i got tech support, instead.

i told the guy about this BS they are doing in stopping me from getting onto the website the due date.

he claimed he was not aware of that..

i got really ticked off at him, but held my ranting rage.

he did tell me (what i already knew), my package plan had expired about 3 years ago, my modem was out of date, and i should upgrade...funny how something always needs "upgrading"

any ways, i got a new modem so now my speeds are 300/300, up from 150/150.......

i was very happy with the 150/150.......oh well.

easy-peasy to install the new modem, took about 10 minutes.

its just that with todays computers, software, and such, they should be able to accept my money "up to" the actual hour of the deadline.......

why can my bank do that with our 2 mortgages...??

or ALL our credit cards as well.....?????

Get rid of Verizon. Tello.com is excellent and exponentially less than Verizon. Unlimited talk/text/data $25/mo plus taxes. Probably pay less in a year than 3 months of Verizon. If you want a referral code and discount PM me.
our verizon account is for the FiOS (fiber optic) tv, home phone...essentially cable tv not cell phone(s)

but we both do have Verizons..."pre-paid" cell phones for $35 per month, which i "reload" the accounts online as well....

good for all of the USA, and overseas.

Its BS money stealing. Not just Verizon. Last month Comcast was down in my area for one week. I called about a reduction of the monthly fee since they werent able to meet the contract. They basically told me to pound sand, saying they werent responsible (even though they were down because they were "upgrading the lines"). Its my own fault my cable TV, phone and internet is a bundle package but its over $300 so I expect a little bit of thanks for your money. Nope just a giant Fudge You

I have TDS for cable internet, they stink but only cable company in town. AT&T is here but speeds are soooo slow and they are not reliable. Then I use HULU to stream tv. Wish I could go to 5G but hard to get inline with antenna here so stuck with cable internet. I guess I could try starlink but I hate Elon. For cell phones it's Verizon. I have had them since 1999. I really hate all electronic items but I guess i need them to stay on the forum.

I'm not sure my advice is wonderful but try to get a little bit ahead in your bank account. Like you get one month's payment ahead so that you can pay it before your annuities and pension checks hit the bank.
easier said then done, when there are more pressing bills to deal with like, 2 mortgages, house insurance, house taxes, 2 electric bills, gas bill, car insurance, oh yeah...and maybe a loaf of bread to eat..????

We used to have G-Tec for internet and DTV for television. G-Tec needed a huge tower antenna on my roof for line of sight to a tower 6 miles away. High winds were always breaking the guy wires. And I was always worried that the antenna was like a giant lightening rod, and lightening would strike our house. Speeds were slow. DTV became ridiculous with their prices. We finally went with Starlink (best thing we ever did in regard to internet). Fast speeds and they were able to utilize my old DTV mount on the roof, so no need for drilling more holes up there. Then my wife acquired some kind of "magical" black boxes that stream the internet and get every channel known to mankind. I'm afraid to surf the dirty movie selections, in fear of coming across one of Belt Fed's home dirty movies! Whatever she got, I'm sure it is illegal, but she tells me not to worry about it. Just enjoy.

as soon as verizon fios came into my area, i dumped DTV...and thank god...we always lost signals in bad weather, but i'd have to call the ASAP to report the outage to garner credits towards the bill..a giant PITA.....to have satellite.

I have Comcast, tv, phone and internet, I pay 254.00, could get it cheaper but the wife still wants a landline, as for internet speed, 150 up and 150 down is way to slow for me, my speed is 1.1gig down and 300mb up, plus I get Peacock and ESPN unlimited free for having the higher speed innerweb. Also have Verizon cell service, no issues paying them here, been with them since 2015, I use the app to pay over phone.

You going to find out in the near future, most places won’t take cash or checks anymore, either a credit card or debit card is going to be the only way unless you do autopay which I won’t ever do

yeah we still have a landline as well....i do not want to be dependant on only a cell phone, plus here if we dial 911, the 911 system we have here is known as "enhanced", meaning our address pops up on thier screen...which is good, cuz if you dial, but do not speak, they send help ASAP.

in fact, if you dial 911 and hang up..??

you had better believe they send a cop out to knock on your door.

we could save $30 a month if we did not have the landline.

i get like 400+ channels, and frankly, sometimes..??

there ain't nuffin' to watch.

i once had the gig internet......but it was costly

i am perfectly satisfied with the 300/300, as much as i was with the 150/150......

300/300 is good, but I play Xbox here, I need the higher speed for downloads and multiplayer online games
