Watch perfection?

I've really never been a watch guy. When I was a kid my grandma would buy me a cheap Timex for Christmas every year and I would probably lose it within a month or two. I'm Left handed so I wore my watch on my Right hand and it tended to get in the way.

I stopped wearing a watch in Junior High. I'm almost positive that I did not own a watch until I joined the Army in 1988.

This is what I wore the entire time I was in the Army.

I remember my squad leader at my second to last unit issued everyone in his Squad an Army watch with a tritium face on it before we went to NTC. He told us if we lost it he'd make us sign a statement of charges.

After that I don't remember wearing a watch until I got my first pocket watch either right before or right after I got married.

As I mentioned previously I sometimes think I'd like to get a wrist watch but it would drive me nuts I can't stand having anything on my wrists on my hands.

I have 2 watches I wear a Samsung smart watch daily. I was gifted a Bulova Marine Star from my employer but I have never worn it. The plastic shields still on the face LOL. It's a nice piece though.

Back in the day , it took $$ to have an accurate watch . [ Insert stories of my Engineer Father using WWV on the short wave radio to calibrate & verify his Boluva Accutron . ]

But nowadays , with inexoensive Quartz , $25 Wal Mart watches are as accurate as $2k watches . So l'm pragmatic .

Benjamin Franklin! Happy 250th!

My above post was about pragmatic , everyday time telling .

This is different . It's medium on my list to aquire a Railroad Certified pocket watch . Functional working grade is fine , doesn't have to be fancy brand .

Appreciation of the technology of the era , plus to honor my maternal Grandfather who was 38 year Steam Locomotive Engineer .

My GMT Master is back a Rolex for another 10 year service. It wont be cheap, usually around 2K; but Ive had it since 1991. I bought it in Saudi during Ramadan. I wanted a Submariner because Subs and mirrored sunglasses seemed to be requirements for SF, I couldnt find a Sub so I settled on the Magnum PI GMT.

I never got to selection because I gave up my military career to try to fix a Deer John letter. When the divorce came she told the judge I abandoned her to go to the war. She got the house but I got to keep the Rolex. I was happy; but damn her new girlfriend was HOT....
