Thanks I think I told you my mom toke me shopping in San Francisco jewelry mart and we had a great day she bought that watch for me great memories. Everytime I look at it reminds of that day with her

Yeah what a wonderful memory. it's funny how an object can take you back to a time and place. I used to have a lot more watches, some of them rather expensive. I downsized not many years ago when i realized that most of them, including the expensive ones just really did not make me smile more than others. I only saved those that had a nostalgic meaning.

So true

Many years ago, went to a Sears or Penney's??? My wife bought me a $100 Seiko. As we were exiting the mall, I stopped at a smaller department store that was selling Pulsar watches. There was an exact duplicate for the Seiko for only $20.
Currently I have a Seiko that belonged to my ex-gf's deceased husband. He was awarded it for time of service for the company he worked for. I asked at a watch shop how much it would cost to replace the face and they said, $100.

Yeah prices have gone up, 100 is not that bad for a trip to the watch maker. The watch that was the start of this thread had a trip to one after I picked it up originally and it was over 300 to install a new automatic movement.

I would have to say that girl rather likes ya, to give ya her passed husband's watch. That's a very personal gift to give away.

Nice watch, not exactly my taste but very, very nice. My Rolexes were sold in the purge. A Sub and GMT Master, nice watches but they were mainly status symbols in the business world for me and I am long past that game. One helped finance a cabin the other paid medical bills, both which made me happier than the watches did anymore lol.

I do find myself pondering another GMT watch at some point perhaps. I rather like the Baltic 39mm and the Tudor Black Bay 58 39mm. But only if a very specific set of circumstances occurs and I do some camper traveling.

Mine is a trophy from my divorce. The ex took everything she could to hurt me including half of my firearm collection. She took guns I will never be able to replace in my lifetime. She did, however, forget about my watch!

Well its a helluva consolation prize. If prices are anywhere as high as they were a few years ago i am guessing you could start a nice new collection.

Does anyone have an old Ingersoll Mickey Mouse Watch? I've heard they were numbered backwards and ran counter clockwise. I cannot, however, find one that proves the rumor. I'd LOVE to get my hands onto one of those if they truly exist. Not because I particularly care for Mickey Mouse. Rather, I kinda like the novelty.
