What are you doing right now??

update to this posting above, from Monday

i was awakened at about 2:30..this afternoon, (would you have NOT thought i was napping....???)

by the doctors office......

biopsies' were negative, NO cancer in the several polyps he removed Monday...and sad fact of the matter, i was so happy of no cancerous polyps, i failed to ask, "how many did he remove"?

the doctor only told me SEVERAL from the last visit nearly 9 years ago.

the follow up colonoscopy would have taken place during covid, but something went awry back then, and it was totally forgotten.

the largest polyp was 15 mm (nearly the size of a DIME.....!!)

next colonoscopy is in October this year, which i will GLADLY take that mixture of Gatorade and Miralax......!!!!!!

and that's just over 2 litres worth of.............mixture....

i am really certain, my daughters, ALL 3 of them will make sure not only will i get the October exam done, but the one after that, whether it be in 3 years, or 5 years......they will just get my 2 sons to carry me to the car..!!

now, can i finish my nap....???

update, i just called the doctors office, on the number of polyps i had........

update to this:

i get "rewards" for taking care of my health, thru Blue Cross.

anything regarding seeing a doctor, or specialist, that is on that list, i can get from $25 to $50 put onto an OTC debit card....whoopie, they used to offer a walmart debit card.

So, searching my Blue Cross account, i see where the surgical room (that's what they called it) for the colonoscopy was nearly $5,000 for all of about 4 hours.

the doctor made out with a mere $3,000 in fee's, and the doctor that checked each polyp for cancer, got a mere $3,000 in fee's.

i paid ZERO as everything was covered.

i'd like to see what the actual charges were that each billed the insurance company, cuz you all know, they don't get THAT amount, only what they agreed to by the insurance company.

and i go back in October, for him to search for anymore polyps, that may have grown since this visit, and hopefully, that will be ZERO.

but yet, another $8,000 to be charged (unless more are found and tested)

what a racket.

Hi,

Finished my workout and my coffee. It sounds like everyone is working hard today. Not me. My rehearsal got cancelled. So I've decided to mow the lawn today since it's going to rain tomorrow, right after I reorganize my ammo closet. ;) Blessings to all.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

The "blackest" business in the US is healthcare. By that I mean the most covered-up and non-transparent. At some point we will rise up and make a change, but until then good luck. I had a hernia surgery 2 years ago, I saw a fake insurance bill (sent to me) for $35,000....meant to make me think that was what my insurance company paid. I have a $7k deductible, had nothing paid YTD at time of surgery, and then had to pay out-of-pocket $2,000 for the surgery. What? So my insurance discount was $33,000? Not buying any of it. BTW, I checked into the hospital at 7:30am and they booted me out at 11:45am same day. Our reps are bought and paid for. How does everyone leave congress a hundred-millionaire?

at least "one of a few things" i know is that, here and most likely many other states??, the doctors office submits a claim for services, be it a regular office visit, or a procedure.

there is a "list" for the lack of a better description, that the insurance companies (Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and another one, United Health Care, and a few others, WILL PAY, and the doctors office WILL ACCEPT....now, can anyone be billed the balance..??

absolutely, but in all my years, i have yet to be back-billed.

and if i were to be back-billed, they will accept what ever monthly payments i send them.

i "think" the office billing dept, "pads" all visits and procedures, knowing full well they will at least get "as much as possible" from the insurance companies.

here in lies at least one issue in the medical profession.....malpractice insurance.......the cost of that (i was told by my retiring doctor years ago, is just astronomical.

lawyers make sure each and every time to sue a doctor, or hospital at any "gone wrong" event.

which can be understandable, but here too, there should be a "cap" on the payment to the person.

Pre-vacation begins; I hate working to the last minute and then rushing to go, so…a day or two to decompress just puts me in the right mood. I’ve got 200+ hours of vacation banked, so…gonna use it.

Talking Waters Ghosted IPA, with likely dessert in the background.
