I bet your your LGS owner has a Reserved parking spot now with a sign saying:Tired of watching it rain, i'm goin to the gun shop for a while.
You cleaned them a day earlyJust got done cleaning 4 pistols with the ultrasound and 4 rifles. I’m ready for the range tomorrow.![]()
Love them lever actions! Those new ones with mlok furniture are butt ugly IMO.
Today stopped by a LGS and checked out the two of the three .357 lever guns I've been considering. They are...
1) S&W 1854 Stealth Hunter
2) Marlin 1894 Trapper
3) Marlin 1894 SBL
The S&W 1854 has some great attributes (ss action & barrel with black cerakote finish over the ss) but I just can't handle the M-Lok handguard.
The Marlin 1894 Trapper is real nice. Nice Skinner (local co.) rear sight & satin SS finish. Didn't care for the stock.
But I'm settling on the Marlin 1894 SBL since it has the integrated XS rear sight/picatinny rail, and the tritium fiber-optic front sight, and a much nicer stock that the Trapper.

All three have real nice smooth actions, especially since the old Marlins typically had a rougher action that had to work in with use.
And the SBL is the cheaper of the two. Saving up some rewards to knock the price down significantly.
My .02
It's been 3 months for me on my total knee replacement. My recovery is going well. I joined a gym a few weeks back when my physical therapy ended. I wear shorts all the time, and it's funny how so many people come up to me and tell me about their knee surgeries (you can see the surgery scars on both my knees).I am now 2 months post op for knee replacement. A month ago the doc did a manipulation under anesthesia to increase range of motion. Still doing physical therapy 3 days a week and I now have 110 degrees range of motion and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I am finally able to get out and do some shooting. My LEOSA annual qualification is in 2 weeks and dove season is coming up. That knee has been the center of my universe for 2 months, man is this a personal experience to remember. Looking forward to life returning to normal, whatever that is supposed to be. Lunch with the Posse today, life is good.
