What are you doing right now??

Well here is the new addition. Just picked it up. Hope I have good luck with it.

I wasn't that lucky. My basic at Lackland was in WW2 barracks. This was in 1975. 3710 BMTS Flt.350. I was across the street from Security Police school where I would go after basic.
I was surprised they were still using those old buildings as late as 1975. They were buit as temporary buildings with a 10 year life expectancy. The new buildings where I stayed were built in 1969 but there just weren't enough if them in the Vietnam era. Those "new" buildings were being phased out might be gone by now.

Hi,

Lackland? Everyone went to Lackland? Nope -- basic @ Amarillo Jan/Feb '68 for me.
I was in the brand new dorms that were elevated above the p.t. and drill pads after they tore down most of the WWII barracks...

This brings back memories. I was at Lackland in the summer of '77. We were in the old MOB dorms. It was HOT. The D.I. was always harping on us to stay hydrated. We would bad mouth the trainees in the new, cushy dorms. ;)

My thanks to you gentlemen for you service, your offspring too. God bless America.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
