I was on the phone most of yesterday and last night. Dad is at home. Hospice visits daily, and they are saying two weeks at most, but they never really know. My sister and brother are taking turns staying there for now, basically to keep my stepmother at bay. She is suffering dementia also, but it has turned her into a raging harpie, and she wasn't the most pleasant person to be around before that.sorry to hear this, but i'd get there ASAP...a christmas tree can wait, its an inanimate object...your husband can stay at home and do that all on his own.
your dad is at this time is still a living human.
you only got the 1 dad........and HIS time is running out.
just my 2¢ on the importance of time, when it really matters.
I have a flight booked, so does my sister who lives in KS. We can't get there until the end of the week, which for me is a good thing because if I were to leave today I couldn't see him because I have a raging cold right now. And on a positive note I will be with my family for my birthday for the first time in decades. We were all on a video call yesterday and dad doesn't look bad, and he knows we're coming. He still has his sense of humor, even with all the stuff going on.
I just finished putting up the tree, and now I have to get the kitchen cleaned up and start the beef and Guinness stew started. It's snowing now, but at least it's not coming in sideways at a high velocity. Well I better move my butt, or I'll lose my momentum. BTW...I am extremely thankful for the company here
