Getting ready for another day with a cup and some light breakfast. Husky food out for Maggie. Have to take my old boss to hospital for a procedure today. He has to be there by 6am. So will get Maggie out for her morning walk early today. Other than that nothing planned for today.

Today I am driving out to Apopka to pick up my brother and get him out to Dad's to relieve my sister. Once we get to Winter park . She'll be exhausted, so we'll probably just lay low.

We got about an inch of snow last night. I'm finishing up my coffee. Next I will salt the driveway. We're expecting a "wintery mix" overnight including 3" of snow. I also need to fix the Christmas lights again. I think I knocked a bulb loose when raking the roof the other day. Then I plan to get to the range. Wish me luck. Seasons' blessings to all.

do you ever pre-treat the driveway by laying down some salt..??

i do that here, but mostly on the front sidewalk, and a pathway to the cars.

that way, any pedestrians are "safer" walking on my sidewalk, and the chances of a slip and fall lawsuit are cut down.

Yes, that was the plan today. We'll get weather all night tonight, freezing rain and snow, that will freeze on my driveway and turn it into an ice rink if I don't take preemptive measures. This is the stuff I use.

I'm getting accustomed to all the winter hacks around here. As much as I love the desert, I love the snow too.

Yes, that was the plan today. We'll get weather all night tonight, freezing rain and snow, that will freeze on my driveway and turn it into an ice rink if I don't take preemptive measures. This is the stuff I use.

yeah, i use "safe salt', that will not damage part of my parking area, that has concrete...i use a garden fertilizer spreader as well....kinda expensive (about $60 when i bought it), but does a nice job of making sure i do not throw more in one area than another. got mine at Home Depot, some years ago.

i don't do it often, only as needed........i still have like 5 bags of salt in the basement....

usually, i buy the salt ASAP when its in the stores like around early november.

i also buy "speedi-dri", or "zip-zorb", which if no one reading this knows, is the stuff you lay down on the ground to absorb oil spills.

its pretty much untreated cat litter.

i get 40 pound bags at any auto parts store........in the spring, i sweep it into a pile, let it dry, shovel it up and back into the storage bin for the next winter.......

i also sweep up any salt/sand combo the city lays down in front of my house, let that dry, and i shovel that up......but there is never really an appreciable amount to save, but it helps, when i mix it with the speedi-dri.....

also here at least, if i go to the city "salt barn", and provide proof of my residency..??

i can get pails of "free rock salt"...but, that is road salt and can damage parts of my driveway.

does your city/town allow you free rock salt..???

yeah, but they still get 100% of thier weekly salary too.

they always seem to blame.."shifting" on the upper atmosphere.

seems to me they ought to pay a penalty for incorrect forcasting.

as an educated meteorologist, "they" should be able to "see a shift coming", and deliver pin-point accurate weather predictions..

otherwise, all tv stations ought to hire a 10 year old, to tell us the weather.
