Make sure where ever you decide on has good water. Down here, ALL of South Texas has water issues. Aquifers are running dry because of huge mis-management by the cities down here. And it is only going to get 100 times worse. I foresee the federal government becoming involved because of the huge mis-management.
 
Found a new build with 10,000 square ft, but it looks like a barracks and is only a frame/shell.
looks like the owner was going to go for a hunting camp with 2 levels of 5,000 sq ft each. framed out with subflooring and some walls framed in but 30% frame out.
big ugly square of a building, but man, oh man. build in indoor range, make a 5 car garage for the toys, massive gun room/man cave, pool tables, the works. It is the most god-awful slab square of a building. looks like the DOD designed it. :unsure:😞
bet in 1-2 yrs it is still for sale... momma said, have at it. You'll find me in Australia with our daughter.....

Came back from range and already cleaned it for the next time. Did ok but not great. My hand is still giving me issues. Some days are great and others a little painful. I have to go and do my 2 years shoot for my concealed carry but actually Thinking that I will not re-new next time. I have 3 more years to figure it all out. This is one of the reasons I haven't been buying any guns lately.

You speak the truth, sir. First of all, the number one and number two requirements for living "in the country" are a good water supply and a good septic system, both located as far from one another as possible. And yes, the aquifers across ALL of Texas, not just in South / Central Texas, have been abused terribly by both cities and by large corporate businesses. As much as pains me to say it, I fear that either the state or the feds are going to have to intervene. If they don't, it will turn into a situation where mega corporations are going to buy up all significant watershed rights and will turn the selling of water into a huge industry.
