I decided to get HIGH for the 4th, up one of my closest & favorite hikes.

But only made it up to 8,252 feet since the HIGH Country is holding more snow than typical by this time in July.

The peak with the most snow is over 9,000 ft. Been up there in the before but only when the white stuff clears up more.

Scanning north to south going right to left.

Nonetheless a great place to celebrate and reflect on the 4th.

Up with coffee and dogs. Great dinner last night of ribs and chicken and all the fixins. Oldest son set off a passel of fireworks last night to cap off the day. Our two oldest kids and their kids and dogs heading out today, it's going to get quiet around here and a little sad, its only every couple years that we can get them all together in one place. In consolation, I have some great leftovers in the fridge!. We are so blessed.

Up with a cup just a little later today. Got to bed around midnight. The fireworks were bad here but Maggie did ok. She did destroy here sleeping bed, she tore it open and removed all the stuffing! It was kind of a mess! The shop vac needs to be emptied later. Supposed to be cooler today and there is a chance of rain. Hope everyone enjoyed the 4th.

well, i just brewed up a pot of coffee, to later turn into "iced" coffee.

we have several fans on right now, to get the outdoor coolness indoors and air out this stuffy house.

it rained here as well last night, and by golly, the muggies have not moved away, and more rain is expected today as well.

for the life of me, being a native New Englander, and being a january baby...(born the same day (23rd) , just different years as John Moses Browning, in fact)...i cannot stand summer and the heat, and humidity....

that don't make me a winter person either.....i hate cold, snow, and ice.

i saving up my money, to buy or lease out a bio-dome.......

Been a quiet morning, dog is recovering from the fireworks, his favorite hooman, mom, is resting with him. Our dog is a rescue, that somebody used for entertainment by tormenting him with either fireworks or gunfire, or both. The guy that we got him from was going to turn him out in the desert and the dog was on his own. We couldn't let that happen. Sad what folks do with the animals.

Our Beagle, Maggie Marie, was a handful when the fireworks started. People that hurt animals should go to prison or worse.
